Is There Smoke? Is There Another Reason Why LSU Lost?

The LSU Tigers got taken behind the wood shed  during the BCS National Championship game. It was more than embarrassing for the Tigers and their fans. LSU’s offense was never a Drew Brees led type juggernaut but, they did manage to  average 35.7  a game for 17th in the country. The Tigers beat the living tar out of everyone they met sans the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa. The Tigers beat 3 top 5 teams and 8 top 25 teams. They beat them all convincingly. There was no mistaking  who was number 1 for the regular season.

The majority of the college football world would credit Saban and the  Alabama’s defense for the crushing win. I do too, they worked hard for a month to perfect a game plan against the nation’s 2nd best defense.  But, is there more to this crushing defeat than just a good old fashion butt kicking? We may never know. The Tigers offense played uninspired and unimpressive throughout the whole game. I’m not one to give credence to rumors or heresy but, sometimes where there’s smoke there is a fire. Take what you will from the following:

I received from a trusted friend. Did the Tigers get outplayed? Yes. Is it Les Miles fault? Not totally. Is the comment Bobby Hebert made ill-timed or inappropriate? Not what so ever. Make the call for yourself.  No matter what happened before the Tigers had their heads handed to them. Is this all a rumor or part of the truth slowly eeking out? Time will tell. Either way this shakes out the Tigers are looking strong for next year.

The following comes from an unnamed source……..

About 3 hours before the game T-Bob Hebert,  Russell Shepard, 2 other receivers and a hand full of linemen got into a heated argument with Les Miles and the Offensive Coordinator about Lee getting more playing time and possibly starting the BCS Championship game. It got so heated that Miles benched T-Bob, RS, and 3 other players. He called Lee into his office and told Lee that he would not be playing in the game. The Offensive CO told Miles that he thought that Lee gave the team the best chance to win the game. Miles told the OC to start looking for a new job after the game and Miles will be calling the plays for the championship game. Apparently the O Line sided with T-Bob and Lee. They did not give their all in the game to prove to Miles that the players are more important than the coach. Now I know that this is hard to believe but when you look at some things it kind of explains a few things: I will list some:

Playcalling: Read option pass on 3rd and 10 – 4 times. Running the same 5 plays over 90% of the game. Overall, Horrible play calling. Running the ball in the 4th quarter with 9 minutes and down by 21. T-Bob Hebert not taking a snap in the game. RS only playing 3 snaps and not touching the ball or getting looked at. Lee getting off the bus and walking 10 feet behind the team with his head down and looking dejected while walking into the Dome. Heated argument between receivers and JJ and O Line with O line coach on sidelines. And the kicker, reports that 2/3 rds. of the plays that were practiced up to the game were not run and the players were not told why. Again I do not know if this is entirely true but there seems to be a lot of truth in it just by seeing what happened in the game.

The LSU team did not arrive at the dome until shortly after 6:00 PM. It seems that T-Bob Hebert & Russell Shepherd met with Les & told him that they were not happy with Jefferson’s preparation & attitude leading up to the game. He was purportedly at Harrah’s a couple of nights & drinking heavily. Most of the receiving corp has been on Miles to play Lee & throw more. Well, Les evidently took the criticism the wrong way & all hell broke loose at a team meeting. Hebert & Shepherd never got in the game. The offense was pissed. Jefferson lost the heart & soul of many of his teammates. Les was stubborn. Something evidently happened earlier between Miles & Lee & possibly Lee’s father after he was benched and Miles essentially dismissed him from the team for all practical purposes. Now not only is Claiborne leaving for the draft but so is Randle, Brockers & Shepherd (who may have no other choice but to leave LSU). Kadrone Boone ( a promising young receiver) has indicated that he will transfer from LSU. This is one of the worst internal problems that I have ever seen at LSU. This is not a black & white issue. It is an issue of team leadership (or lack of) & a coach that won’t listen to tenured upperclassmen.

Where there is smoke there is fire. We will all see what happens. Hopefully this is all just garbage but we’ll see.

Russell Shephard NEVER got a real chance @ LSU. He was a 5 star coming out and even tho he may have had some problems miles NEVER got the ball in his hands near enough….It appears to me, even before this report that miles is a “turd” and high-handed, feeling much more important than he is! Just my thoughts!

    • Poor gameplan and arrogant overconfident players across the board for LSU is just the start. If any of you listened to the player interviews on Sirius chanel 91 then you understand the difference in the attitude of the players from LSU and Bama. LSU treated this like a bowl game and Bama players treated it like…ummm…THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!!!! Unless we had Tom Brady at QB there is no way we could have won this game. Quit the conspiracy bs and tell boobie herbert not to bet so much on the games and then move on and accept the fact we just got our asses handed to us by a team that was superior that night and obviously more prepared to play.

      • Lee was the MAN who did the right thing. Stayed the course did not get into trouble. Then was shown the door. Les you were are are still wrong for doing what you did too Lee. Thank God I am not in your shoes.I sleep very good every night.

      • Nicely said!!!!! That’s what happened we just simply looked horrible!!!

      • How very small minded for a person who would have the arrogance to use Tigerbait14 as their name trying to make us believe you care about LSU and the team at all Seems to me, you were not listening to those players. They do have the right to be over confident because they are that good. Plus, that type of “overconfidence” is exacty what is needed and was needed to play all those games and WIN. You don’t have to be an “College Football Coach” and I use that term very lightly when refering to les miles, to realize that you have to listen to what your team is saying and not be a dictator. Also, Lee did deserve to have some play time in the big game, it was because of his great start that got us to that point. During which time miles’s boy was doing jail time. You must be a frustrated spy with all the conspiracy talk. It is just a plain fact that miles didn’t call the game and didn’t put players in because, what did you say, oh yeah, poor game plan and overconfident arrogant COACH not players. He would even let his team lose to prove his point. He is just a JACKASS and now the whole world knows it.

      • Well how do you explain the fact that 3 very good players didn’t get in the game, and that it appeared that LSU only ran 3 or 4 plays over and over again. With a swarming defense like Alabama had, in the NFL and other college teams would have been running draw plays and screens. Go back and look, not one was run. Why???? sometimes you have to call a small animal on two legs, that waddles and quacks a duck. and stop trying for whatever reasons to call it a cow.

      • we the fans have a right to know, without fans in the stands there is no team .this is as much about the FAN as the TEAM.as a true follower u can see when something not right, and something was wrong!give bama a pat on the back for winning.but i truely believe it would have been a different game IF LSU WOULD HAVE PLAYED ALL THERE BEST PLAYERS instead of just a few of them.no one will ever know

      • I am A 100% LSU Fan, however mad props to Saban who is A DAMN good coach and BAMAS defense. LSU was not cocky but confident!!!! Can you blame them?! The only cocky one was Jefferson, who thought he could win the game by himself with only 3 or 4 plays. None of the plays lead to the endzone which is down the field not the sideline last I checked!!!! Don’t matter if it was Lee, Jefferson, or Mettenberger at QB if you don’t go down the field you can’t score a touchdown or field goal. Last I checked this was college NOT NFL so there is no Tom Brady!!!! There is no conspiracy, every game I ever watched NFL or COLLEGE when your trying to win you try everything even if it means different QBs, plays, receivers, etc. Also when trailing in third or fourth quarter you do not continue to run the ball when BAMA made it clear in the 1st half LSU will NOT win by running!!!!! On a final note, there was only two games LSU scored under 20 points and all of a sudden we can’t score anything….HMMMM!!! Something’s fishy!!!! (Go LSU!!!! Great job Tiger D!!!)

      • Honey! You may be right about the interviews and I am going to listen to every one you have suggested. After I am going to write to you and tell you what I think, if that is OK? I am willing to admit if I am wrong! And I do agree that one night some team was just better than us. That could happen any night with any team and I am always prepared for that. Of couse, I do like it much better when we win. But there are nights when our team is not on and we know it. But, you have to agree this could have been the most exciting college football game ever. Both teams were equally qualified, both teams wanted to win this big game and of coure they are # 1 and # 2 in the country. Plus, the biggest of rivals. The coaches were equally matched, except SABEN showed up to play. And yes, Tigerbait14, I do place the largest part of the blame on miles. Some say he doesn’t owe us an explanation because the TIGERS had a 13 – 1 season. But, I say, HE OWES US AN EXPLANATION BECAUSE OF THE 13 – 1 SEASON!!! I agree that BAMA could have won even if LSU was on. For me that is the excitment of the game! By the way, I do like the way you chose your name. Pretty clever! Mine is just a name nothing clever about it. Did you go to LSU? Oh! One more thing, I am not being grumpy and whiney!!

      • autigerchick1974

Tigerbait is right! Took all the words out of my mouth!! Hopefully, this is a humble thing that needs to happen to the LSU team and fans. They need a dose of humility and an ego deflation.

      • Ever since Les became head coach we all said LSU has settled for Les and his attitude at this game and toward the players proofs the fact. A sorry coach will always have players shutting down just to prove their point. If I had a coach like that I would have a shitty attitude also. It got so bad in the locker room there were physical altercations. This statement is just a tip of the iceberg.

      • Obviously these things are not for the faint-of-heart. Read it (the article) and weep. It does explain quite a bit of the mystery. And whether or not any of that actually happened is sort of irrelevant. The fact remains that SOMETHING HAPPENED and LSU simply didn’t play. Bama’s good, but LSU’s not that bad.

    • I will tell you this, Jefferson was at Harrah’s rolling dice. As far as the rest goes, I have no clue!

      • Dianne….you have no clue. Really you don’t. Our players were not focused on the game. They were focused more on looking good for the the media, the fans and their friends. Seriously, go back and listen to the interviews that Jack Arute, Childers and the others did or better yet email, facebook or tweet any of the guys that did the interviews and ask them about the interviews that they had with the players. TO A MAN every bammer player said they were there on a business trip. Blame miles all you want and there is definitely blame that needs to go there but at the same time just accept when for one night we lost to a better team. Just like nov 5 we were the better team and got the win! You sound like a damn gump whinning about this that and the other. If and buts…IF MY AUNT HAD NUTS SHE’D BE MY UNCLE!!!! Dueces!

PS My high school # in sports was 14 but you’re too busy looking for some bs to blame on anyone than accept the facts!

    • Les Miles should have been fired years ago . he is a shity coach and this just proves it .

      • les miles is a da les miles please stay, u did a good job this year and all the other years

      • He’s a classless individual. Apart from not putting Jarrett Lee in the game, when it was obvious that Jefferson was shell-shocked (did you see his face?) and all round useless, he still didn’t put Lee in at the final two mins. of the game. Down by 21 points, no chance of winning, he denied Lee the opportunity of being in the last college game of his career! Despite Jarrett having helped the team so much in the early season. That totally, horribly sucks. It’s either extremely mean-spirited, or indicative of extremely low intelligence. I have an idea that both are applicable to Miles. I had the displeasure of meeting Miles a couple of years ago. I am not a young chick, but he he did the once-over, look you up and down, check you out thing, before saying a word. The man’s a sleazeball to boot!

    • There is no excuse for Les Miles or any other head coach staying with a failed plan and watching poor execution by the quarterback and the entire offense without at least attempting to make changes and try to win the game. When LSU was behind by 15 points going into the 4th quarter, passing was the only option if you had any plans at all to win this game. But, Miles just stood by and refused to make a change and put Lee in the game to throw the ball down field. In my opinion, Miles is a brickheaded stubborn incompetent coach that cost LSU and all of these players a chance to win the National Championship. Miles not only let the players down, but he let all of the faithful LSU fans down that believed he would do his best to defeat Alabama. But, instead of this being one of the greatest LSU season, it will now be remembered as an embarrassing display before a national TV audience. In short this was a the most shameful and embarrassing attempts on the largest National Stage in LSU’s history.

  2. Carroll Campbell

The BCS game was a dud and primarily offensively…The LSU defense played rather well…I am NOT a fan of LSU, but have a Cousin that lives in Baton Rouge, who was very disappointed and felt as I do that neither Jarret Lee nor Russell Shephard was treated fairly…..Again, just my thoughts…..

    • I disagree on LSU’s defense, Bama had 8 scoring opportunities, 1TD, 5 FGs, and 2 missed FGs. Defense never really stopped them. They still were better than the offense, however…

      • LSU defense did a great job holding bama back to 9 r 12 points whatever it was. A defense can only hold an offense like bama back for so long. Thy were tired because they were on the field the whole time.

      • Miles is losing control of his team. This is bad for all LSU fans.

Have we peaked with this guy?

      • Yeah, but the LSU offense also gave Bama the ball on their side of the 50 three times. And if I recall, they only scored points on one of those drives. That’s pretty hard nosed defensive play if you ask me. And the touchdown came after the defense had been on the field for like 40 minutes.. You give any team those kinda chances, they are gunna score on you, I don’t care how good your defense is.

      • You would allow a lot of scoring opportunities, too, if you were on the field for 2/3 of the game. Bama’s offense had a ball-control game plan, slowly but surely chipping away at yardage until they were in field-goal range. They ate the clock and wore our defense out, however, the defense played as well as they could. Had our offense played a better game, our defense would’ve had a little more of a chance to rest. They had a heisman trophy finalist carrying the ball and their QB played out of his mind. Based off of those two things, I’d say our D played as well as they could. My hats off to them and here’s hoping they can play just as well next year. Lord knows our offense can’t be any worse…

      • b/c the defense was EXHAUSTED… They never had a chance to rest the whole game. Points back to offensive failure…

  3. Miles is a great recruiter, but a poor coach. He had the fastest man in college football for 4 years (Trindon Holliday), & hardly ever played him! When he did get in on offense, every time he touched the ball, he ran the ball on a wide sweep, towards the sidelines. It’s hard to imagine a team with so much talent & a coach with so little imagination!

    • rusty shackleford

I will say this, Trendon got in A LOT of trouble over and over again while playing at LSU. This is information from current students there…..he skipped class often and missed some practices. as for Les not having any imagination, how many times did he run trick plays or wait until the last play ofthe game to catch the defense off guard?

      • So …… why did he do nothing in this game?…… That is the question. Doesn’t make sense….big moment for any coach and any team and they played high school level, incompetent football….oh, by the way, this team beat 8 teams in the top 25, actually saw and beat Alabama in that team’s stadium, hit hard and fought well all games. Regardless of the damage control and the repeated rehearsed lines by this coach to the effect “we just didn’t get the ball down the field” this game was given away. Intentionally thrown for petty ‘whose in charge’ reason? I don’t know but before LSU is allowed to play there needs to be an investigation. Smells pretty bad….the NCAA must wonder about the integrity of the game. Hopefully the NCAA will ask for an explanation of these events. Finally, ESPN is rarely given to respect LSU sports and especially football. Did you see those guys? They couldn’t believe what they were seeing. They could only say ‘look at that Bama defense’ so much. Yes they said Jefferson couldn’t get anything going but it seems to me they were as dumbfounded and perplexed by the incompetency of the coaching and the team as the rest of the viewers were. This just does not happen at this level of the game. This needs a better explanation than ‘we just couldn’t do anything’!

      • not many times, unless you count t-bob snapping the ball with the time running out. He won the National title on the back of Jacob Hester, all his plays would fail and would just hand the ball off to Hester, 1st down! How many 4th downs did Hester convert alone in the UF game? There was no Hester on this team and they kept going backwards running the same plays. Lee would have given them a better chance.

    • like my husband and myself say,les myles is a motorvator, not a coach, and i do think hes choices were stupid!!!!!!

    • I agree. He also lacks the ability to adjust.

    • Don’t have to be a genius to see that was the worst possible offensive game plan for LSU. LSU did exactly what Alabama thought they would do. And Alabama did the opposite (throwing mush on first and second downs) of what LSU thought they would do. Even without bringing Lee in( les had 0 intention of a plan B), they could have thrown some quick slants on first down, and a few longer passes, to at least male AL “think” they wouldn’t run on first and second down. Players did not execute for whatever reason, but the game plan of automatic runs and the option were not going to ever work aginst AL.

      • We don’t really know what “the plan” was for sure. Even the best coach can’t make players execute. He can make them practice, he can teach them “how to” to improve their skills, he can offer advice and he can discipline them when they violate team rules (which happened far too often, IMHO). One of the “fun” things about a bowl game in NOLA is also one of the challenges for coaches. It’s hard to keep grown men from acting like teenage boys when the temptation is so great. But that is part of what being a “professional” player is all about — making the sacrifices necessary to be ready for game day. You do it out of self-respect, respect for the team and respect for the school and your fans.

This offense, for whatever reason, did not execute and was not prepared. You can only coach players to the best of their ability, and it is possible that we were asking more from our OL than they could do to overcome ‘Bama’s defensive strategy. You can only show players how to execute and give them opportunity to practice to improve, you can’t do it for them or make them want to if they don’t care enough. There is a difference between being a good leader and being a magician or miracle worker.

Perhaps the reason Miles stuck with the option was because he could see Jefferson wasn’t trying and was hoping that he would embarrass himself enough to wake up and want to win. Jefferson would pitch the ball and stand there motionless with his hands on his hips rather than block for the runner.

And you can’t expect the defense to play 90% of the game (only 5 first downs all game) without running out of gas or losing heart. Whatever went down, the players are just as much to blame as the coaches, if not moreso.

      • Laura Schneider – Apparently you don’t really follow football. The athletes on the field that Monday night are STUDENT athletes not professionals. There was something definitely wrong in the Dome but I don’t believe you can lay it totally at the feet of the athletes.

    • OF ALL COMMENTS, YOURS MADE THE MOST SENSE!

      • Thank you, if the shoe were on the other foot, and LSU Defense would have shut down Alabama Offense, never allowing them to ever cross the 50 yard line. And Saban had kept one quarterback in the whole game, and shut out one of his best wide receivers by only allowing him 4 plays and then not throw the ball to his side. How many of these Bama fans would be crying something stinks? Sometimes you have to put the shoe on the other foot. I guess I should have said it earlier in all my posts, I am an outsider looking into this, Go Gators.

        • The rumors are that Alabama fans made a LOT of money on this game. One fan alledegly bet $2 Million on it.JJ was alledegedly seen in the casino the weekend before the game.Who gave him the money?Something is rotten in Denmark.

  4. All Lee got for his amazing efforts through 8 1/2 games was a swift kick to the head delivered by Les Miles! What a horrible way to treat the young man who CREATED the winning season that Les was enjoying! Ok … on to more about Les.

Take this scenario… the teams have been chosen for the BCS championship game… #1 LSU vs #2 Alabama. Only this time, there is a new wrinkle… in preparation and for the game… the teams will SWAP coaches! You know… kinda like one of those stupid reality TV shows like ‘Wife Swap’. Well… if that happens, the same coach would have been lifting the crystal trophy at the end of the game! No doubt! Why? Because Sabin don’t play that s – - t! He coaches to win and more importantly… his players RESPECT him!

When you have one of the most talented, gifted, not to mention deepest, teams in the history of college football, you don’t have performances like LSU’s Monday night… unless the coaching sucks! And it did! Period! That’s were it starts and that’s where, as we saw Monday night, it ENDS! There should be an full investigation into … and a FULL explanation from… Les Miles… as to WHAT HAPPENED. Because clearly something out of the ordinary DID happen. And the fans deserve to know what it is!

    • Miles doesn’t have to explain shit. He finished 13-1 on the season. The players going to the draft were going anyway. Shep is returning as is Boone. And are you really throwing out the scenario IF coaches switched….IF my aunt had balls, she’d be my uncle. Please wake up to reality.

      • Ben you are as stupid and inbred ss les miles who is screwing Jordan Jefferson momma. So stfu and put your hand back down your pants. Lsoser was out played out coached and f’ing humiliated and I f’ing LOVE it. How ’bout them DAWGS!!!!!

      • LSWho? dude you’re stupid. A 13-1 team would have at least scored, the coaches made those young men look bad on national tv. Did you not see the look on their faces. Throughout the season they never struggled, I’v heard of bad days but come on, THIS WAS A JOKE!!!!

      • I think Les Miles is a loser and made a winnning team a losing team when it counted for the school the most. You need to wake up. Yes he owes explanations. You don’t suspend a team player then let him play in the biggest game of the year because you are angry with the offense or for any other reason. Jefferson did not help get them to that game. But he did manage to lose it for them. I think that will be the end of the # 1 team for a while. Les Miles has let his emotions ruin it instead of using his head.

      • I totally agree Ben! LSU players didn’t get them 13-1 all by themselves! Miles is an incredible coach, but a coach cannot be a pushover and has to maintain respect as a strong leader! I’m sure he wanted that championship as much as the players did! Looks to me as if there was a mutiny on the bounty! If this is the case, shame on all the LSU players for not respecting their coach and his decisions no matter what they were!

      • Ben, I hear you!
Jefferson didn’t get them there? He didn’t help win the game in Tuscaloosa? Lee sure didn’t do jack-squat to help us win that game…unless you count 2 INTs as help. I think Lee should have gone in too but Les, for whatever reason, didn’t put him in. Since I’m not the coach of the team I’m not going to act like I know what’s best. And by the way, no one, NO ONE, was complaining about Miles after beating Bama in Tuscaloosa and winning the SEC title. You can’t have a knee-jerk reaction to ONE LOSS. Well, you can, but that makes you look like an embicil for being so easily swayed.
Oh, by the way, for all the retards who believe these rumors being posted…what does it say about said rumors since both RS and Boone are coming back? Hmmm. Out OC is still here. If he were out of a job they’d have already announced it. National Signing Day is coming up in a few weeks and you want to have your staff solidified before that date (See: Alabama coaching changes). Maybe these rumors (which came out well after the fact) are just trying to fit an explanation into a place where none of us have any business being. It’s not our business to know what happened. And Les “owes” none of us an explanation.

      • Ben I agree with you 100%. What would have been wrong would be for Miles to let the fans or players make the choices, He is the coach and they still have the best record in college football. Also as for this rumor Russell Shepherd and T-Bob Hebert have both said no such thing happened. So if you want to get rid of Miles why don’t you root for another team. Goes back to the days of “help Mac Pack” and how did that work out for us. Oh Right Jerry Stovall turned the program around. Going from an average of 8 wins a year to 4 wins a year. I guess that would make everyone happy.

      • Miles isnt worth a shit!!An keeping Jefferson in helped lose the game!!!Yes Miles does have to explain even tho by now nobody wants to hear it he is an idiot!!!It sure looks like he was PAID off!!!!!!

      • Miles is a no class SOB….

      • Really!!! He doesn’t have to explain? You must be eating that same grass miles must have been smoking Monday night. He needs to explain BECAUSE of that 13 – 1 season.

      • All people talk about the head coach. LSU has in place the best assistant coaches in the country. It showed this season. LSU defense and special teams kept them in the game especially in the Alabama, Arkansas and Georgia games. I remember JJ playing very well in the A & M bowl game last year along with some option runs in the Bama game in regular season. He struggled against Georgia big time in the SEC Championship game. All of the rumors about the offensive guys is making more sense

      • shouldacouldawoulda

now that is funny…i was rolling! but i do have to admit miles messed up on that one. you gotta earn respect to recieve it. miles has not earned the respect from his players so in turn, he will continue to look like an idiot until he does. now, can anyone say jj was a good qb and not expect to get struck by lightning? the guy has proven over the last 4 yrs that he cannot throw the ball nor read defenses. don’t take my word for it…just watch where jj gets picked in the draft…oh never mind…he won’t go to the pros, cause he sucks! good luck with your free education you recieved from lsu jj, cause that is all you did there is get free ed. i am glad the rest of the offense did not play for him, because its showed how much he lacked as a leader. lsu is for the better to part ways with jj, as long as miles doesn’t fall in love with another dumb kid to lead the team! lsu will be back next year, because jj will not be the qb. lee got them there (short of one bad half of game) and jj cannot ever say he has done that. miles needs to remember he is there cause the fans want him there; if miles wants to “politic”, then run for president and leave lsu alone. we need a team, not a load of trouble! seniors did right for raising an issue, and miles did wrong for carrying a grudge. i would rather a losing season than a bunch of controversy in the bcs championship game. geaux tigers!

      • Ben you are as ignorant as miles…the players and the offensive and defensive coaching staffs got LSU the 13 wins and when miles got his dumb-ass feelings hurt, he took control and did all play calling and got us our only and most embarrassing loss, along with his “boy” JJ…every time JJ would look to the sidelines for a play call from daddy dumb-ass, he looked like the guy on the movie “The Water Boy” that the kicker decided to aim the on-side kick at….if you had watched the NCAA east/west game you would have seen what a real LSU starting quarterback looks like…great performance Jarrett Lee!!

      • During the game I asked my girlfriend to call the New Orleans police department and file a complaint against Jefferson. Maybe another arrest would have helped Lee get into the game. What a joke Jefferson has been with the Tigers. Fire Miles know or lose our program.

    • You have lost your mind. Miles is a piece of crap and you know it. I wonder if money was made elsewhere. Time will tell, if LSU continues to put up with this looser I will never watch another LSU game.

    • “Fans deserve…..” Hogwash !!!!!! What LSU or any other school does is none of anybody’s business. Only NCAA violations need to be disclosed. And to the appropriate parties who are not the fans.

      • Yep, those are the rules as of now and look where that has gotten so many teams in the past few years. I, for one, as a season tickets holder would like an explanation as to what he is doing for the salary of which I most definitely pay a portion. LSU Athletics prides itself in being totally self sufficient and not depending on the University for funding. Obviously ticket sales figure in there somewhere. Would the person who pays your salary say “I don’t need any answers when you screw up just carry on.” Hmmm, probably not.

      • Well there needs to be an NCAA investigation, because you don’t see a game played by the LSU offense, or coached by any other NCAA team that was that bad. The question everyone is ignoring here, Is this story true? If it can be proved not to be true, then did Miles have money on the game because someone sure threw it. Why, don’t you play your best players in the most important game of the season, and Why the same plays over and over again when they are not working? If it wasn’t for belligerence then someone made some money by throwing the game, there needs to be an investigation, point blank.

  5. Obviously there were major problems on the offensive side of the ball. Any player can have an off night, but not all 11 at the same time for an entire game. Something else was going on….and this article probably has much truth to it. “A house divided can’t stand.”

  6. I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if this was dead on accurate. I was an LSU fan until Monday, and won’t pull for them ever again unless Les Miles is forced out by being fired. It’s obvious something is going on with the team. You just don’t totally dominate an entire season and then get your ish pushed in like that without fighting back. To hell with Les Miles.

  7. For those of you who are staring at the sun looking for the light, think about this… Perhaps our coach WANTED to play Lee, and in fact wished he could rotate Lee and Jefferson all night long, but simply could not play Lee because Lee was “unavailable” to play. Yes, Lee was on the field, dressed out, but what if he had already checked out? Think back to the SEC game… why on earth did Lee not have more play time? Because he threw to interceptions? REALLY? Coming into the BCS game, Lee had problems that Miles and Co. not only did not want to disclose (had to keep Bama guessing) but COULD NOT disclose (medical). Lee has had these problems for a while now, and they were beginning to show to those very few in the know, in November. And no, these problems were not his grades. That is why he was pulled after the last interception. Yes, he did perform well in the early part of the season, and he deserves accolades for his performances while Jefferson was out dealing with his legal problems. But Lee had other problems that got more serious in November, and simply put… Miles saw the hairline fractures turning into compound breaks in a hurry. Miles would have loved to have two QB’s in the BCS game, but in truth, only had one guy who had proven himself (most of the time)… Jefferson. Lee was out for reasons OUTSIDE of Miles’ control. And Miles is no dummy… He would have looked like one playing Lee if we all knew what Miles knew about him. Instead, he played the only QB he had, and that QB made mistakes and MIles had the class after the game to take the blame and not throw Jefferson under the bus. As for QB #3, Jefferson was proven, #3 was not (despite his numbers). In hindsight, #3 MIGHT have played better than Jefferson, but Miles was simply not going to gamble that. Given his penchant for taking risks, he might always regret not taking the lark and putting #3 in, but I doubt it. The smart decision was to play Jefferson over #3 in the Championship game. Miles played it safe on that one.

In short, Miles only had Jefferson in his arsenal. Better to play your proven QB than to gamble the National Championship on #3. Now, Jefferson may have been at the casino and all that, and he certainly may have lost the respect of his teammates (not hard to see that coming) but even those on the team are not in a position to demand anything from their coach. This article might hit on a few truths, but the reason Lee did not play has nothing to do with any conspiracy. The simple truth is this… Les Miles is a damn smart First class coach, and the LSU team got to the BCS game because of that fact. LSU held Bama to one TD late in the game, and kept them kicking field goals. Had the only QB played his best, we might have had a chance against Bama. But he did not, and Miles had no other choice but to leave him in and hope that he got his act together before the defense ran out of steam. We all would have done the exact same thing.

    • Rickey McAlister

No, none of us would have done the exact same thing. After failing attempts time after time by jordan jefferson I would have tried another QB, any other QB. I doubt very seriously Lee has some undisclosed medical illness but still dresses out for games and practices! That would be impossible and a great legal issue. Anyone that cant play in a game due to medical reasons would be disclosed way before now. Lee took the last snaps of the SEC championship. If he had a medical issue that would not have happened for obvious legal reasons. Something is up with this Tiger team for sure. They did not look like the team we watched and cheered for 13 weeks in a row. Miles can say what he wants but there is a reason we didnt try to stretch the bama defense down the field. There is a reason that Shephard didnt see any snaps during the game except three. There is a reason that the O Line was so angry on the sidelines. I wish someone from the team would speak out!! I admit I was among the Miles haters for several seasons. His antics and lack of common use of the English vocabulary led the list. But I bought into the “River Boat Gambler” style and I didnt see it during the national championship at all! If there ever was a time to gamble and pull those crazy stunt plays after the offense couldnt move the ball, that was the time!! He didnt, its like he was determined to prove a point and whatever that point was, it costs us the title.

      • I agree something was going on….Coach, who will call a play where the holder on a field goal will toss the ball over his shoulder blind to the place kicker to pick up a first down instead of putting 3 points on the board and other such gutsy plays, accepted defeat early in a National Championship game by running the option time and time again when it was evident it wasn’t going to work early on? Absurd. If I were Miles, and I am a more conservative gambler than he is, I would have turned to my wide receivers, running backs, punter, and heck even my offensive linemen and ask them if anyone thought they could pass the ball longer than 5 yards. That didn’t happen. Players were not rotated as they were all during the season, the play calling was less inspiring and inventive than those at a Junior High football game, and nothing was changed when it was blatantly obvious things were not working at all early on. There is no logic to explain this…it has not happened in the years Miles has been at LSU and for it to happen in a National Championship game boggles the mind and itself points to something horribly wrong….even if you ignore all the players fleeing the team in the last few days.

    • rusty shackleford

I agree with all of this. I loved Lee and was hoping to see him play but it seems he had problems all year long. He was benched for skipping classes and got into some academic trouble. Could there have been a respect issue earlier in the year? What if Les had to play Lee because Jefferson wasnt there? I want to know these things but probably never will. As far as these people saying they wont ever support LSU again…pure stupidity and you were never a fan anyway.

    • If J Lee had a medical problem that was possible career ending then there was no reason to hide that and the next QB should have been getting ready to play, and as far as proven #3 already has a winning record breaking season under his belt, a whlole season in the LSU system and took snaps as the #2 for 8 weeks, besides he said JJ was his game QB several times… and in my humble opinion, that was to NOT create a QB controversery. You think in the LSU playbook, they could have sent Rubin Randle up or down the field… and challenged his offensive troops. So I guess we’ll get to see if #3 finally and if he’s got the real stuff… like a Hodson or Bert Jones, but I’ll settle for a Matt Mauk or Matt Flynn!

    • He still had Smellinger.

    • REALLYYYYYYY?????

We had more than just Lee on the side lines!! Lee got them there , not JJ and

    • Although I don’t know the details to which you are alluding, I tend to lean toward Miles’ knowledge of what he had to work with and what he didn’t have. He is a classy gentleman who, because of that, may never disclose an ugly truth that so many think they want to hear. I believe and trust that Miles made the right decision, in that playing Lee or Mettenberger wouldn’t have changed the outcome of the game. However, because of the backlash and “what if” thoughts that will linger eternally, I think Miles should have played either or both of the other QB’s, if for NO OTHER REASON, just so he could have at least been able to say, “We did and tried EVERYTHING we could to win”.

    • If this is true why not put the number 3 man in? He was only the #1 rated quarterback in all of junior college. Zach has way more experience than Jefferson will ever have.

    • I’m sorry, but no matter what plays were or were not played Jefferson just ticks me off! Every time a play didn’t pan out the way he expected he looked like a child. Go back and watch the game again and you will see where he threw the interception and he tackled the receiver. He sat on the ground after and has a look like the kids I babysit. That look said it all for me. He looked like hey he took my ball!! He should have had the class to just get up and take it like a man. Get over it and get ready for the next play. I am and will always be a diehard LSU fan, but it won’t hurt my feelings to see him never take the field again. As for Miles. What the crap was that? Usually he is very passionate on the sidelines. This game he just stood there as if he didn’t care! I don’t know if they think people are stupid or what, but dang my 11 year old even said the same thing. Mom why isn’t he clapping or getting mad? I mean come on you have to admit that something was and is up. I hope that if this article is true that he gets reprimanded because just like he always stresses to his team that they represent the school and should always act accordingly then so should he. Looks like to me he hung them all out to dry. No matter what happened between him and a handful of players he still had the rest of the team to consider and he acted as if he didn’t care! I hate when coaches think that the whole thing is about them because it’s not and it just makes me sick. Just my opinion!! I know it will rub some wrong, but this is how I feel and what I believe!

    • You too are a dumbass. Lee is playin in the all star game while thugboy sits his Choot EM up ass at the house. Let’s see who goes higher in the draft? Lee perhaps? Yeah my money is on lee. JJ be lucky if his choking ass goes at all.

    • You are a Miles cool-aid drinker the only reason he has a good record is because of all the talent he has had and he doesnt know how to use it

    • Hardly any of us would have done the same thing! When your score is 0, it is not like you are taking “a big gamble” by putting in an alternate quarterback! You can’t get any worse than it already was, so the decision to continue to allow Jefferson to flounder was completely idiotic. If something, or everything (as the case happened to be) isn’t working, you need to make the changes that you think will get the best results. Not doing anything is giving up; at least substituting the #3 would have been an attempt to show that you are dedicated to winning and are doing everything that you can to try to make it work. Miles did NOTHING!

      • My 12 year old Cousin would have a been a better quarterback in that game!! Something does not set right…That team was NOT the team we had seen all season and at the SEC playoff..and frankly…it’s what most would call a dumbass move to keep the SAME QUARTERBACK and continue using the SAME PLAYS through all 4 quarters of the game. I kept thinking that they were simply using the same plays as they had used in the first quarter of the Nov. 5 match against AL. Continuing the same plays over and over has not been Miles’s approach at any point this season!!..If Miles was trying to “TEACH THE TEAM A LESSON”…that was not the time nor very professional.. I wouldn’t be surprised if Jefferson was thumbing his nose at the team and out “at the tables” in the days preceding the game rather than reviewing game plans and alternate solutions if something didn’t work in execution…I personally feel his antics at the beginning of the season should have gotten his Ass bounced off the team if not out of the University..Miles not using Lee will forever be a mystery and will always be considered another dumbass move!! ..The only other conspiracy story that would make one wonder is if someone was paid off to throw this game!!….As far as the FAIR WEATHER FANS…please leave and don’t come back!!.. As an LSU Alum.. IT’S ALWAYS AND FOREVER PURPLE AND GOLD!!!

    • This has to be the single most retarded thing I’ve read in weeks. Jefferson, proven himself?? Have you been watching his career at LSU at all? Go ahead and look at his stats for last year, and our overall offensive stats. THEY’RE HORRIBLE. This guy has a few good qualities that have been overshadowed by his bad. He’s terrible at decision making, he’s an extremely one dimensional passer, he makes stupid mistakes constantly. And then he blames it on his teammates. And as for Miles being a “damn smart first class coach”: who the f are you, his mother? The entire Tiger Nation has been cringing at this moron’s incompetence for years. There is a very long list of stupid decisions Les Miles has made that has cost the team wins. Everyone here has known this guy is a joke, and now the entire nation does.

And about your little theory concerning Lee’s health: are you kidding? I suggest you stop doing heavy drugs, get some rest AND GET YOUR FREAKING LIFE TOGETHER because you are losing it man.

    • And that’s why Jordan Jefferson will never take a snap in the NFL. He’s not a leader and he never earned the respect of his teammates. The LSU running backs, defense and special team (especially WING) made Jordan Jefferson appear to be a much better quarterback than he ever was. Jefferson is one in a long line of overrated quarterbacks including Ryan Perilloux and Jamarcus Russell that were surrounded by other amazing athletes that made them appear to be much more than they really were. I think we all saw a few weeks ago that Matt Flynn was one of the only true LSU quarterbacks in the past decade that possessed all of the abilities of a real NFL quarterback.

    • dude after the game LESS Miles said he wanted a more “nimble footed QB” nothing was wrong with lee. this is total bull shit because there was nothing nimble about Jefferson he flat out SUCKED balls the ENTIRE game. i have 2 close friends that play on this football squad that i played high school ball with that have stated time and time gain the les miles did not really care much for LEE as a permanent started for the LSU football team he was more concerned with getting the piece of shit thug jefferson out of trouble and getting him back on the field.

  8. How did I know conspiracy theories would abound. LSU got beat down just like my 90′s teams. Alabama was just plain better, coaching, talent, intangibles.

    • this may actually has some merit to it. if you at all watched EVERY LSU game this season you would know that the playing in the NC game was very uncharacteristic. Is there truth to ALL of this? who knows. Alabama won, no doubt. LSU finished with a better record and a far more impressive win schedule. not to mention an SEC championship. Kind of like how Boise preps for that one big game and always seems to win it. When you have nothing to lose (bama) you give it your all when you get another chance. LSU had everything to lose. they already beat bama in their house. That was a game of passion. this NC game was a complete flop.

    • Jerry if Les keeps it up the radio guys in Baton Rouge will be sitting on billboards again to get rid of him. You know about this all too well…

  9. I believe it cause the offense did not help jefferson. Miles made a very bad decision. And now he is paying for it which is good for him.

  10. Well, Jerry, that’s why you were a losing coach. And that’s why you’re no longer the coach. No imagination, and instead of facing whatever locker room problems you had you just chalked up losses to the fact that the other team was better. That’s easy. In this case it was obvious which team was better on game day. After watching LSU all season, even an amateur could see a different team showed up to the big show. Everything in this article makes sense. Even if you take Lee out of the picture, why didn’t Les go with anybody else? What did we have to risk in the 4th quarter? Jefferson had nothing to do with the wins, post-Lee. The defense and special teams, and mistakes from across the line won those games for us. Sure, JJ had some highlights. No doubt he’s big and more mobile than Lee, but more often than not the QB technician will win for you. In my humble opinion Lee managed the offense, and provided better leadership on the field (and certainly off the field) than JJ ever thought about. JJ is undisciplined, and basically comes from the same school that Jamarcus Russell came from. Where is he now. I’m glad we don’t have to worry about that next year. An NFL team would be crazy to pick up JJ after the problems he has. It’s a shame too, because he has the skills, just not the discipline.

As for Miles, go back to the game when the clock ran out on the Tigers at the goal line to lose the game and Les tried to blame JJ (I still don’t know who goofed that one up) for it. I plainly saw Miles on the sideline motioning to spike the ball. A class coach wouldn’t put the blame on a player. That’s when he lost my respect. I could see hints of the same kind of behavior ever since. It’s obvious he acted like a child when it came to Lee. Refusing to play the guy who stood in for two different QBs who got their butts jammed up over disciplinary issues (and legal), and led the team to wins was totally dismissed. If Les wanted to ignore his players opinions I guess he has that right, but he had to hear the fans time after time. And he will learn that the fans are powerful supporters, or foes. He is about to find out just how much influence they have. Maybe you should give him a wake up call.

Best of luck to you, Jerry, in whatever it is you do now. Just don’t waste your time applying for Les’ job. We’ll find somebody who takes responsibility for the team’s losses as well as wins, and who will play the players who will give LSU the best chance of winning.

    • Agree with you Ross! Why did he not go with Mettenberger!!!!!! The kid can throw and run it when he needs too!!!! He is a Lee and JJ in one!!! But loads better than both!!!!!!! If Lee had medical issues he had a ringer sitting there in Mettenberger!!!!!!! We outplayed too many good team this year to go down like that!!!! All I can say to Jerry is they looked like your teams in the 90s!!!!! Lack of talent (cuz you could not recuit) and lack of motivation (cuz you were not a motivator). I do like Les, he is a motivator. His locker room speaches are great!!!! But there was some friction on that Tiger team Monday in NOLA!!!! You could see it!!!!!! Everyone was playing in a fog!!!!! Even the defense and they did what they had to do to stay in the game.

    • Nick Saban is inarguably the best coach in NCAA Football. It is a toss-up as to who is 2nd, Urban Meyer or Les Miles. I have one question for the “FIRE THE COACH” Committee. Who, would you suggest, is a better coach that LSU can hire?

  11. This makes me sick to my stomach. If it is true, then Les needs to go ahead and leave: he won’t be respected by his players. If it is not true, then it is vicious.

    • Nick Saban is inarguably the best coach in NCAA Football. It is a toss-up as to who is 2nd, Urban Meyer or Les Miles. I have one question for the “FIRE THE COACH” Committee. Who, would you suggest, is a better coach that LSU can hire?

      • Jon Gruden. If they were willing to give Miles a $5.8 million raise had LSU won the National Title, why not hire a Super Bowl winning coach in Jon Gruden for $5.8 million?

      • I have a novel suggestion. How about a coach who makes decisions based on the teams best interest rather than his own temper tantrums.

  12. There are very few that are as passionate as I am about LSU Football. That being said, WE GOT BEAT. We were out played. Les made mistakes, Jefferson made mistakes, Refs made mistakes. None of that means S%^& now though the game is over. Move on people. I was not pleased with Les Miles decision to keep JJ in the game but I am not the coach he is. That is his choice. Two years ago and even last year everyone, including myself, hated Lee because he could not throw a simple screen pass with out it going the other way for 6 points. He grew up as a quarterback and became better. Jefferson will never have that chance to grow again because his football days are over. Demanding Les lose his job and saying you will never support LSU again is just plain f#$%^&*( retarded. You have no heart if one loss in a great season drives you to say that. Yes I know it was a National Championship game and we played against the BEST team in the NCAA. Next year will be a whole new story just with some different actors. Until then I say and will forsever say GEAUX TIGERS!!!!

    • I so agree, hope it is not same station different players next season on time will tell. Goooo Tigers.

    • COMMENT FROM A BAMA FAN:
I knew nothing of the controversial rumor until now. I have NO KNOWLEDGE of the inner workings of the LSU team – except that they are winners. But, you know what? IT MAKES SENSE TO ME that something was going on! The Tigers did NOT have their usual lean-&-mean look! In fact, my girlfriend who was watching the game on the tube with me, said “They look lost!”

Before the game I was very concerned – I did not see intensity in the Bama players in the Thursday practice clips on YouTube. Intensity was VERY evident in Saben on the clips!~ After the first field goal I realized I was wrong about 2 things: Bama WAS intense & LSU was OFF! The Tigers were NOT playing as I knew they could. Why? I will leave that to those that know more than I.

Regarding Coach Miles: Pre-game I made the comment to my companion watching the game, “He’s a helluva coach!” Though I was astounded at LSU’s bad play, it was my fear that they would come out for the 2nd half, after Miles-magic in the locker room, with a revised lineup & game plan & give Bama a run for their money. I could not believe when the 2nd half was a total replay of the first in regard to those things.

Someone, in a comment above, remarked about JJ’s look after he tackled the receiver of an interception JJ threw. I found it interesting that I was not the only one that noticed his childlike behavior! I commented at the time “Look at him! He looks like a KID!” And he did.

Compliments on one helluva season LSU! I do not know what happened, but the LSU I knew did not take the field 1/9/2012!

      • shouldacouldawoulda

thank you very much, bama fan for the unbiased approach. i am so glad that you said what you did, and i totally agree with you. good luck next year, and please beat the hell outa arkansas for me!

      • Very classy Bama fan!!! Ya’ll definately showed up to play ball and did it damned good might I add. I knew it would be a tough game going into the night, but was infuriated when I saw our performance. Thanks for your honest and astute observation, and good luck to ya’ll next season.

  13. It is a shame when you have the best players in the country and have an ass of a coach that would rather lose the national championship game than try anything to win. it was obvious that he was going to do and play who he wanted no matter the outcome. I have been an LSU fan all of my life, my wife is from Illinois and has become an LSU fan as well, I can’t express how embarassed we are after watching this game and the poor performance of the team. You could see the team was not ready mentally for this game all the blame for this loss lies only on the shoulders of Les Miles, but you know nothing is going to be done or said in the hopes that everyone will forget about it with the next season coming up. It is a dame shame what he has done to the self esteem of his players, they were all sad and demoralized. I for you will not forget how he treated Lee and a lot of the players although I know that doesn’t mean much to one of the highest paid coaches in college, we had a chance to make history with a win, but instead we made history with the only team to be shut out in a NC game, and also not cross the 50 yard line but once and have the lowest total of offensive yards in the history of the game. Miles made history in this game but on the wrong side of the fence.

  14. Well let me just say that some of these posts have value to them. But some do not! Maybe Lee had medical/physical issues that prevented him from playing! But that does not excuse the terrible play by (to Me and other fans watching in the Dome) one of the best Offensive lines in the country!!!!! They were all healthy and they played terribly!!!!! I had the privilege to witness this wood shed beating in person! And siiting in the Dome watching the team I love go down like that makes me think that this article is very true! Myself and a Tiger fan sitting next to me looked at each other and say in unison “Where is the O Line Tonight!” They had Checked Out from start to finish!!!!!!! Checked out because there was a “FIRE” behind the smoke!!!!! And watching the game to where you can see the entire field puts things into persprctive. After the game Les said that he did not put Lee in because of the pass rush and he is a pocket passer! Well, if you looked at the game from at the top of the Dome, Alabama hardly used the blitz! In fact most of the game was front 4 against front 4!!!!! And they still got through to JJ! And did not want a pocket passer in the game!!!!!! Heck, JJ dropped back many times in the game in the pocket to pass!!! So why was Lee not put in to run those type of plays!!!!!! Hurt, maybe, turmoil, maybe!!!!! But whatever it was the coaching let us wonderful tiger fans down!!!!!!! The run was doomed from the start!!!!! And we kept using it over and over again!!!!!!! The Tigers were playing not to lose and Bama was playing to win!!!!!!! To be there live and have to take the crap of the Bama fans was rough!!!!!! To watch a team that scored points at will against fine football teams not score was rougher!!!!!!!! I do believe that this story is true!!!!! How can youo run one trick play oafter another, go for fourth down over and over with the game on the line and just sit there and run a terrible vanilla offense over and over again in the biggest game for LSU in the last 20 years!!!!! A BCS crwon against the team LSU fans most despise and a historical undefeated season gone!!!!!!! I am saddened as a one of the most dedicated Tiger fan that it was the coaching who let those players and Tiger Nation down!!!!!!! I liked Lee, but for me I am so glad that him and Jefferson are gone now!!!!! They were both just OK QBs!!!!! Now we have real talent at the position wiht Mettenberger and Kiel!!!!!! We have not had that since the GREAT TOMMY HODSON!!!!!!!!!! Tigers will be in Miami next year and will win and it will not be against BAMA!!!!! I love Dem Tigers!!!!!!!

  15. I don’t know if all of this actually happened. But regardless, LSU didn’t come to play, and it cost them a perfect season.

  16. Things that make you go Hum?? Truth or just stories made up to help us justify the insanity we witnessed last Monday.

    • After the third quarter, when Miles refused to put Lee in, I turned to my son and said, “I wonder what Jarrett Lee did to tick off Coach Miles!”

    • and you know what about football? Teams that play 13-0 with a resume of excellence against top 25 teams do not do this!!

  17. Interesting and very thought provoking read. Thanks for posting. Jarrett Lee is a class act and I am glad he was selected to play in the All Star game in Tucson AZ. The BCS game was a disaster.

  18. This does not shock or surprise me at all. I’ve said all along that something happened to make Miles act the way he did. But no matter the reason he surely did not have the team, fans or university as his first priority which it should have been. He is a professional but certainly didn’t act like one.

  19. Let me interject this as I believe this hadn’t been Thot of either… Team was built around Ryan Perriloux… That didn’t happen … So Les went and got a protoge’ like him( JJ ).. But Lee was ahead in depth chart and was UNSUITED for that type of offense( hence- pick 6s)… Then we fire DC… get Chavis… Defense improves… Then begin preparing for a pass offense( ALA recruited O line heavily)… Now… Offense isn’t suited for JJ …. Henceforth passing game comes alive… Then ALA game in Tuscaloosa… Bad nite for Lee.. Pulled … JJ wins… GPA for lee was a LIE as lsu website CLEARLY stated MANY times… Medical condition?.. I DOUBT it as SOME ONE from press would have leaked that by now… So… Story damn has merit… I have friends that are Alum and echo same sentiments….. So… That’s my theory as I follow LSU very closely… Look it up… This travels a four year span…..

  20. hope Lee has one his best games for the All Star game in Tuscon. that would be great for him, then Lee would have the last laugh. Thanks for the 8 games Lee.

  21. Jason from Kansas

Well. If true. It explains a lot! The team never looked together the entire night not once did they appear to be even remotely the 13-0 S.E.C Championship team are. They never even came CLOSE to scoring the entire fucking night!!! Can someone explain that in any logical sense iif the above isn’t true?
I love and will continue to support my Alma Mater L.S.U. but let’s get to the bottom of this. Alabama was prepared no doubt and congrats to them. The players deserve answers and let’s hope they get another shot at the title next year!
    Geaux Tigers!

  22. makes sense to me after watching the game. To bad the team could not rise about the situation and give it their all regardless of how they feel about the coach’s call. Hoping for a better 2012.

  23. Yes, those of US that followed this team all year know something happened. We all knew Alabama would play hard, we know their coach. And, yes it is hard to beat a good team twice in a year, but WE DID NOT EVEN SHOW UP, EXCEPT FOR THE DEFENSE. This is on Miles, whatever happened, but, those of us that are true TIGER FANS, I am so sorry, we had the best year of football in my 55 years, but WE KNOW SOMETHING IS WRONG, remember how stubborn Gerry Dinardo was about playing certain people, reminiscent of that, something is DEFINITELY WRONG IN TIGER TOWN!

  24. well i had a conversation just last year bout the OC gary vrowton..im a la tech fan who always pulls for lsu too…i was told gary was the problem and i say to any LSU fan who thinks gary crowton was the problem is a fool..when at la tech his offenses couldnt be stopped even by top 10 teams.he did this with 1 and 2 star recruits..yet last year the lsu offense looked like crap…gary crowton if still here and ALLOWED to call his plays and been overruled could have made this lsu offense with all this talent be simply unstoppable…even by the alabama defense which i take nothing away from…LSU game plan look horrible and les miles proved that he isnt a great coach even though i think he does rank as one of the best recruiters in college football…LSU simply had no emotion or desire to be on the field on the offensive side of the ball…the tiger defense did a great job considering it played most of the game …miles needs to go for lsu to be a great team

    • If you watched the GAME, you would have seen JJ begging for help and constantly trying to figure out why no one was doing anything to help him. The fact that Miles kept his better players off the field should tell you that something else was wrong in team. I do feel that the players and coaches where trying to say that Lee is much better and DOES have better control on the team than JJ did.
A ESPN Newsman stated that when JJ was on the field, there is too much confusion and choas. Lee QBing there is control and perfect action. In the same time line another says that JJ is first string material and does need better control and that Lee should always be second to him. This I feel is a complete joke. LEE is the better over JJ and always will be.
As for Miles, FIRE HIM!!!!! He has caused nothing but trouble for the team over the last few years. HIS decision to bring JJ back is the insult to the team. You are right Saban would have told him to hit the road.

  25. This sad excuse of a National Championship Game has also cost LSU some top area ( north louisiana ) some top recruits for next year as well . With 3 of 5 State Championship teams from Ouachita Parish … The local recruits have chose Bama instead !!!! Les Miles and his very poor decisions on Monday night will cost him and LSU more than a trophy !!!

  26. ChocolateBob, I have heard the same thing you have. IF that rumor is true (which I question now especially given Lee’s comments about hoping and wanting to go in) then I completely respect Miles and what he has been doing for Lee. The unfortunate problem is that we may never…and certainly not in the short term..know the truth. If the rumor we have heard is not true, then I can’t understand Miles decision making AT ALL…it makes no sense. Everyone needs to keep in mind though, that Miles lost a lot of $$$ being stubborn…I would think there had to be other reasons for his decisions other than anger at a few players (and if they did this, I understand their frustrations, but that doesn’t make them right in questioning a coach hours before the big game).
I just wish we could know and all the questions and rumor stop!!!!

  27. FIRST of all, our old football coach spelled his name with a G. Gerry Dinardo. Secondly..I wish it was the 90′s LSU team out there..they played with heart. The fact that we have A+ talent and a seemingly selfish coach, (if all of that is true) is ridiculous!! We are capable of beating Bama or any other team. The game from start to finish was BS!!

  28. Two words SOUR GRAPES. The truth of the matter is that LSU never beat Bama the first time. Check the box score and take the bad calls into consideration. You had an over confident team and coach under estimate the TIDE. The sports channels hating the SEC and Bama did not help, making LSU think it was a walk in the park. The TIDE came to play and are the best team in the country. Get over it!

    • No one is claiming that Bama didn’t win fair and square. Fans are concerned about what is happening to the TEAM we followed all season. People spend THOUSANDS every season supporting the Tigers and this is one of the most suspicious? situations we’ve been in for a while. Not to mention Bobby Hebert may get his press conference credentials taken away for questioning the coaching? Um, I think he has the right to ask the questions we all have.

    • You are a fucking idiot. It doesnt matter what bad calls happened, what matters is the score at the end of the game. They missed field goals, had a field goal blocked, and threw an interception that could have been a touchdown. Those are missed opportunities by the offense. LSU played an extra game, AND beat Alabama. They ended the season with a better record, but lost the championship. I seem to remember a few years back 2 teams splitting the championship. If the tide were the best team in the country then why werent they ranked #1 all year? The polls do a pretty good job dissecting every single aspect of every game, and take votes from all over to decide who is the best. Guess what? It was LSU. So take your middle school opinions about biased sports channels and teams not winning games even though they had more points than their opposition, and go clean up your city. Every sports commentator in the world knows the SEC is where real college football is played. The argument before the game HAS been confirmed and due to that the team self destructed before they began. Mettenberger and Rivers are going to lead LSU to another great season and Crap-elroy is going to get beat down by the Hogs next year to boot. I would rather hear some asshole talk about how good Duke is at football than to ever hear ROLL TIDE again. Oh I just thought of something funny, remember when the UNIVERSITY OF LOUISIANA AT MONROE beat the Crimson Tide? Tide got rolled that day by a different kind of War Eagle. Dueces Dumbshit

    • La Flama Blanca

Hey there genius, if the “TIDE” would have won the first time they played LSU this season they would have a Conference Title as well. LSU “Rolled the Tide” in Tuscaloosa during the regular season. If we look at it and try to make argument from the angle you are, I have two words for you “SOUR GRAPES.” That’s about an age old excuse anyway… “the refs. made some bad calls,” that was our excuse for losing when I played little league. Oh yeah, and by the way, if you haven’t noticed LSU belongs to the SEC too, hence the SEC Championship game that we dominated. So I’m not quite sure where you are trying to go with the whole “LSU came into the game underestimating the TIDE because ESPN and the other sports channels don’t like the SEC.” The truth is LSU won the SEC which involved defeating the dreaded TIDE while marching through the entire season undefeated. Make any claim you want but everyone knows LSU beat themselves, blame it on the coach or that horrible excuse for a QB Jordan Jefferson, you must be delusional to really believe BAMA won the first time the two teams played this season. It’s 2012 now, we have all sorts of new technology. Maybe you have heard of some of it, like the television, or the radio, or the newspaper, or maybe even the internet; it’s accessed through a thing we like to call a computer. All you have to do is acquire one of these objects especially that computer thing with the internet and you can just simply type the words LSU vs Alabama 2011, it will tell you all about BAMA winning the National Championship game AFTER being BEATEN by LSU earlier in the regular season; and how strange it was for a team to be playing in the BCS Championship game without being able to succeed in their own conference. So next time you’re feeling witty and you want to jump on the BAMA wagon, think about how completely illegitimate your statements are before you type them. Geaux Tiger!!!

      • Number one teams don’t self destruct. They realize that they beat themselves the first time and come back to correct their mistakes and take care of business.
Then 9-6 in our backyard turns to 21-0 in yours. Now thats how champions ROLL. No pun intended. However, I do still believe that we are the team everyone loves to hate. All teams and coaches have problems when dealing with players. Winners get over it and take care of business. The coaches and players forgot that the first win was VERY close and if the controversy did take place, it is a shame. Finally, a 21-0 shut out, and only crossing the 50 yard line once, is pretty definitive regardless of rumors. On a different topic, the management and organization getting into the dome was horrible. It felt like time square on new Years Eve in NYC. Is it always that bad? Finally, all those ‘PEOPLE” with their technology voted us number one at the end of the season so I guess that makes you seem more like the idiot than me.

  29. I WAS TOLD A VERY SIMILAR STORY BY SOMEONE ON THE TEAM SO IT IS DEFINITELY TRUE THAT THERE WAS AN INCIDENT. NONE OF US WILL EVER KNOW EXACTLY HOW SERIOUS IT WAS SINCE NONE OF US WERE IN THAT LOCKER ROOM. THAT SAID, IM REALLY SHOCKED THAT THE NATIONAL NEWS MEDIA HASNT PICKED UP ON THE STORY YET.

  30. Just a note, my mother’s friend (who I have NEVER known to lie, just a very low-key mother who avoids gossip and drama) said she did in fact see JJ at Harrah’s, 2AM, having a few drinks at a gaming table before the game. Take that as you will, but she made this claim DURING the game…no time to jump on the bandwagon of this article, etc.

This article makes a LOT of sense, as heartbreaking as that may be for all of us LSU fans who watched our team crumble before our eyes that night…and is continuing to do so.

  31. Do any of you idiots realize that that the real Gerry Dinardo that coached your team in the 90′s does not spell his name with a J, but rather with a G? You corndogs are so stupid, you deserve to have Simple Les for a coach.

  32. Wow, what a crazy conspiracy theory! Just can’t believe y’all played awful and lost…

    • La Flama Blanca

Not when we already know that we’re the best team in the country. It’s hard to believe that a team averaging 41 points per game, winning the SEC which involved beating Alabama in Tuscaloosa, and achieving a 13-0 record while being tasked with the toughest schedule in college football could be denied crossing midfield but once by a team they already beat. Wow, how much sense does that make to you? The big Crimson elephants probably have there own blog spot talking about how great they are. Why don’t you go and be amazed over there?

  33. I could accept the loss if I felt that Les Milles had pulled out all the stops and played ALL of the quarterbacks, if that is what it took. I don’t buy the theory that Jarret had a medical issue. He wouldn’t have dressed out or practiced. Remember, after the game in a post-game interview he said he had practiced and prepared for the game…. no reason to keep Nick Saban in the dark then..

  34. I am a die-hard Tide fan, and for its worth the LSU fans better hope that this is not true , cause if this story holds any kind of truth , coming from a ( Bobby Hebert like quote ) fan , both LSU and Bama , hell all college football fans , we did not deserve that and we should demand someone be held accountable

  35. I understand the questions as to if this is true or not, but if you are playing for a National Championship I dont care who pissed you off you play you hardest and try to win. Lsu was not prepared and got beat by a better team. We can make all the excuses we want it falls on the players as well as the coaches, even if they played there second team all night they should have been able to get past the 50 more than once. Alabama was better prepared and executed better and plan and simple took LSU behind the wood shed for a total beat down. Not a Bama fan at all but they were the best team this year in college football! Period.

  36. SO true, and if it walks like duck, quacks like duck, it probably is a duck! In this case, I’m thinkin Pay-Off!

  37. juan (from Dallas,Tx.)

THANKS FOR INFORMING US ON WHAT GOES ON BEHIND CLOSE DOORS., and many like mysef thanking LSU just didnt show up. it great reporting along with good reporters, like yourself that keep us informed, Thanks for your great story. and i WILL keep following this . TO SEE HOW IT WILL END, THANKS JUAN T.

  38. I believe this!!

  39. It does not take a football genius to see a ludicrous wrong doing by coach miles.
For the school and the wonderful dedicated
LSU fans, this whole ordeal needs to be investigated thoroughly so it does not happen
    next year or ever again.
Truly an embarressment to the school as well
    as the state of Louisiana.
    GEAUX TIGERS, WE LOVE YOU!

  40. Wow, great stuff, very interesting. I didn’t have a dog in the fight but was looking for a great game and not a “good old country whooppin” as Keith Jackson would say. With that said, I still can’t figure out how you can win a national championship and not have won your conference or been runner up. Maybe that will get the NCAA and the BCS to come up with a system that works. My site is pretty regional but feel free to check it and becomea follower. http://phillypressbox.wordpress.com

  41. I believe the story because of the way the game unfolded. One point no one made was we did not even see Tyrann M. with any swagger or bullshitting the Bama players, hell he always does that. For him to be quiet, something was totally wrong with the team and they were divided.

This team was better than what they showed and to Bama fans, I am not taking any credit that you guys were better and well prepared, but honestly, if LSU would have shown up with no internal problems, this game would have been much closer.

    Les Miles, total failure!!!!

As for Les Miles, I am not a fan and never was as I do not forget some of the idiotic things he failed to do and his consistant speech problems; Furthermore, his flat claps are stupid looking and need to stop. He quit on his team and the fans and University, Unacceptable!!! If my CEO does something like this, I would have to seriously think about replacing him. I do not care what you did for me the last 7 years if you lose it that bad on one night and lose a $5M deal because of stuborness, you will be looking for a new job.

  42. this story explains a lot, and is very believable. Miles is a great recruiter, motivator, and players like him, but lets face facts–he is not the smartest duck on the pond. And he is very stubborn and prideful. The LSU “powers that be” should recognize that in the end, he is hurting the program, and simply buy out his contract, lick our wounds, and move on to a coach we can all believe in. Miles has never been the same since winning a national championship early in his tenure with the Tigers. My friends close to the program have been telling me for two years that his ego is hard to tolerate since becoming a national championship figure. He has become cocky, shows up to events where he is speaker, late, and dressed like he just exited the gym. What does it take to recruit a really top-notch coach? My long history with my home state school tells me that LSU is not an easy place to be a head coach. Lots of politics. Maybe Miles is rubbing this all in our faces, sort of mocking us, showing us he can damn well do as he pleases now, after all, he is the
boss! LSU has never had, until Saban arrived, a coach who could handle the LSU situation. Lets face it, the pressures of being a head coach at our school must be mind-boggling. Why would so many who gave it their best try, have failed to handle it. We had some good ones, brilliant young coaches like Mike Archer and Jerry Stovall. But none of them could win at LSU. So whoever comes in to head the program had better have steel balls. Something is fundamentally wrong with the whole program, and my guess is that it is what has been our downfall as a state, for my entire livetime–POLITICS AS USUAL.

    • You had me until “Mike Archer” as “brilliant.” I quit listening after that.
Curly Hallman was, consensus, the Ernest T. Bass of college football, but Mike Archer had no ability to discipline or order his troops. Stovall: you had me cheering! Archer: you had me remembering very tired defenses staggering back onto the field to staunch the bloodletting.

  43. What most people today do not understand is how important character is. That’s why BAM has won two National Championships in three years. Saban recruits character, molds character, and teaches character. He doesn’t tolerate less (no pun intended). I was surprised we lost the first game, because it was obvious to me that we were much classier than the trash talking Tigers. But sometimes great athletes will win, even if they win without character. But in the end, character prevailed and the TIDE got their second title in three years. Miles is a great recruiter, and I think he’s a very good coach. But he has to jettison the “player’s coach” role and establish some discipline down on the Bayou. Will see if he’s cut out to do so. If he doesn’t, he may still win some SEC titles and even a National Title with the pure ability that he’s able to recruit. But he’ll never match Saban, and the TIDE will leave the Tigers in the dust. Class and character matter- in sports and in life. I’m proud of my Crimson Tide; and even though you guys are our rivals, I sincerely do hope that Les Miles learns to start emphasizing character in his coaching. Congrats to LSU on their SEC title.

    • La Flama Blanca

I’m guessing your monkeys are smarter and classier than our monkeys. Come on man, everyone knows Saban is a good coach but the whole our players have more class than yours is ridiculous. What about the Rookie in Oakland (who came from Alabama) who is currently under investigation for shooting someone over some retarded “hood monkey thug issues” that’s an excellent display of character. If Saban molded that, I would hate to see what really goes on over there in Noteethville, AL.

    • Saban-a man of character! You have to be kidding. You must not have been following him and the way he left LSU in the lurch. I’m staying. Yea. I’m going. Yea. A big liar.

  44. I give Bama their props for coming out prepared for a football game, but like a few have said,LSU rolled thru everybody to get to 13-0 now the last game of the year played like a pee wee football team against Bama? something is definately not right,JJ when he threw the INT and blamed it on Spencer Ware who was blocking for JJ,and another thing the 2 dropped balls by JJ from the center,he tried to blame the center for those too,JJ has “SOMETHING” on Les Miles there has to be b/c he keeps letting him play other than Miles is trying to get JJ`s little brother Rickey to come to LSU but Rickey loves Bama from what i understand,Miles might be a good coach but if your QB is not getting the job done, bring in #2 Lee if Lee can`t go then bring in #3 Mettenberger b/c THIS GAME is the last game and for all the marbles you pull out ALL OF YOUR WEAPONS to get the job done.Miles needs to be investigated by the NCAA.

  45. I don’t know if this is what really happened, but it sure looked like something happened . If this is found to be true, Miles should get the boot. This was not at all the game that LSU’s true fans should have seen .

  46. As a die-hard LSU alumni and fan (I bleed purple and gold and always will), I support the Tigers 100%. I can’t help but agree with so many of the comments above, that the dynamic, exciting team we watched play all season was NOT the team who showed up to play in the Dome. While it pains me to admit it, Bama did play really well – but LSU fans knew that Bama would show up to play hard and play to win – we were EXPECTING a nail-biting, ulcer-inducing game. (We know what to expect from an SEC team, especially Alabama. We were ready, and based on what we had seen LSU do all season, hoped to hell the Tigers ended up BCS champs! We were NOT expecting a total beat down with no response from LSU. Conspiracy theory, medical problems for Lee, whatever . . . LSU fans deserve a REAL explanation of what happened on Monday night. My opinion is that Les Miles should be held accountable by LSU’s Athletic Director to hold a press conference and answer all of these questions. Yes, he is the coach and has the right to make the coaching decisions he made, but something was fishy on Monday night – anybody with eyes in their head could see that something was wrong – Les owes it to the LSU fans to let us know what happened!!!!!!!!!! We have a right to know!!!!!!!!!

  47. If the players indeed threw the game to embarrass the coach, doesn’t that say more about the players than the coach?

  48. I still say it was a big pay-off.. some money run under the table. Money is powerful in a situation like this.

  49. Broke Back Bayou

Bottom line is Les can not handle pressure from the fans and he is extremely stubborn! I believe not playing Lee has everything to do with the 2008 season when Lee (freshman) went 8-5 and Les got his first dose of fan frustration! He didn’t take to the dislikes of the fans to well and developed a block on the development and maturity Lee has made since! Jefferson should have never seen the field since Lee hit Toliver for a Tb to win against Florida last year! What happened Monday night was clearly a matter of time with JJ at QB! The fans should have spoken up sooner and didn’t because of the play of special teams and great defensive that bailed JJ out many times! The fan frustration should have been after SEC Championship game where JJ made Georgia’s defense look as good as Alabama in BCS! Fact is Jefferson can’t release the football which makes the OL look bad and most defenses look great! We had many WR open early but the wrong guy (JJ ) is not capable of delivering the football! Just watch how a true QB drops back and delivers with a quick release to a WR in stride! JJ DOES NOT HAVE THIS SKILL AND LES IS A VERY STUBBORN F…K = A BEAT DOWN FROM A GOOD TEAM WHEN DEFENSE AND SPECIAL TEAMS DON’T BAIL THE INCAPPABLE QB OUT

  50. I feel that there was more to Miles and JJ than has ever been said. One mistake by the better QB (Lee) and he is benched for a few plays. Yet, JJ can make all kinds of mistakes and stay on the field. From the time of his start we have had to deal with many bad calls and improper time clock watching. Our fearless and poor leader Miles just sits there and does nothing about it. I feel and will till the day I die that Lee should have started and finished the game against Bama. JJ is a great running/full/half back. His passing skill is not the up to par and YES, he can run a ball. What the offense did to him is something that should have been done when he returned. Lee got us to where we were and he should have gotten all the honors, not JJ.
I do feel that Miles needs to answer up to what happened that day and not run and hide like a little whim that he is. I also feel that Miles should go. He has done his job somewhat good and has failed in many other ways. I fought for his side when he came on and after three years he has gotten to be a SPOILED BRAT. Saban was a great coach and he and Miles share the CRY BABY roles.
HATS OFF TO THE OFFENSIVE LINE.

I am sorry though that we had to lose in that particular game. Next year we need to meet and beat this year. If. a new coach comes in that can manage team as a team, then so be it. We have a great strong team that needs to be ran as a unit of one. NOT, by the coaches favorite.

  51. Well something was drastically wrong with the offensive performance.Whatever the reasons LSU didn’t look like a team that belonged in a National Championship game. Not the same team that won 13 straght games.

One of my Bama acquaintances bragged that a friend of his bet $2 million on the game in favor of Bama.Who would bet that kind of money on a game without knowing something was not right with the opposing team?Vegas odds were 2 points in favor of Bama,in other words a tossup.Too close to call.

  52. I was at the game at left early after Bama scored the TD. Our AD, Joe Alleva, was walking towards the exit at the same time. When your paid to watch the game and you leave early, I don’t see that being a vote of confidence for Miles.

Miles needs to respond to all of this and say if it’s all bs. He owes it to the fans.

  53. I could care Less if Miles left LSU. I wish he would

  54. I heard the exact same thing just hours after the game from a very reliable source of mine.

  55. Thanks for this post. This explains a lot. Why didn’t the news media (newspapers) report this? Some is unverifiable, but the way that Lee walked behind the team is public information.

I sat next to a casino worker on the streetcar as I rode home after the game. He said, “People say that the team that goes to the casino never wins the big game. Jordan Jefferson was playing in the casino over the weekend.”

Btw, where do these “amateurs” get the money to gamble? I certainly didn’t have money to gamble when I was in college.

    • La Flama Blanca

Maybe that dummy sold a few of the 100+ pairs of tennis shoes he has. I know shoes aren’t cheap especially those multicolored hi-top clown shoes he wears. Let’s see, 130 pairs at $120 a pair equals what? That’s right, over $15,500, that’s impressive for a poor college kid. You tell me where he gets the money to gamble.

  56. It is a shame that the truth has not and will not come out about the Miles-Lee controversy! The only way the fans will ever know what happened is if one of the senior players decides to talk! No returning player will squeal, that’s for sure1

  57. The fact that Les Miles does not run a “tight ship” became evident at the beginning of the season when he allowed JJ back on the team…Saban would have handed him his bags and told him not to let the door hit him on the way out. I will always resent the WAY Saban left LSU, not his decision to do so. There is absolutely NO DOUBT Saban is the best coach in the NCAA. He demands respect (is not the players’ best buddy), knows his stuff, and when his team walks on the field they are comopletely FOCUSED on the job at hand.

There was definitely something wrong with the LSU team on Monday night. True or not, this story makes a lot of sense and I sincerely hope the truth is revealed. I also hope Jarrett Lee has a great game in the one coming up and wish him Matt Flynn luck in the future.

I am also relieved that we will never be cursed with JJ on our fiels ever again.

  58. Iowa State could have beaten LSU that night

  59. It didn’t take a rocket scientist to know that there was a problem with the entire team on Monday nite. There was no emotion from the players or from Les Miles. How do you play a NC game with no emotion. Didn’t realize that Hebert didn’t take a snap during the game. After this article, that made perfect sense. If I were a player, I would be ticked if the guy (Lee) that had gotten the team so far, was basically benched after the first Alabama game. Miles didn’t even looked as if the loss bothered him at all. He needs to do some explaining. I hope somebody talks – the fans deserve at least an explanation.

  60. Where is Bertrand and the LSU athletic administration!! Worse loss in history…..IF not this reason the WHAT did happen??? and don’t tell me Bama was so…….good and LSU went to sleep….LOOK at the so called coach;s face during the game and after…..

  61. As a Bama fan, I have to wonder if this story isn’t the truth. I fully expected a close, tough game, much like the first one in November, and I feel a bit cheated that the same team did not show up to play us in January for the championship. I kept waiting for the trademark Tiger emotion, big play, or SOMETHING to happen, but it never did. Tigers looked flat and unemotional. I thought could it be from the long layoff? Maybe they are just rusty? But as the game when on, it became apparent that they did not have the hearts in it. Bama was better, but not THAT much better. I expected far more from a very talented and successful LSU team, and what I saw bore no resemblance to the team that dominated the rest of the NCAA during the season. I was left shaking my head after the game, thinking what WAS that all about? Now maybe I know. Sorry to my LSU friends. I hope you all get it sorted out soon.

  62. any ever thought Lee may have screwed up to warrant his benching…. maybe he missed class popped off to the coaches, or missed team functions??? i dont think any of the happened. we went 13 – 1…. thats pretty successful, at any school in the nation. ill say it again13 – 1.. oh and an SEC Championship. so we lost the NCG, get past it, move on and look forward to next year…. ive liked Miles since the day he was hired. and everyone of you crying “FIRE LES”, all i got to say to you is Ole Miss, Missouri, and Vandy need more fans…. so see ya…

  63. Interesting

  64. Purple & Gold Forever

I don’t know if what has been reported is true or half true or just salve for the vicious wound the Tigers received on Monday night but that was not the 2011 LSU Tiger Football Offensive Squad on that Super Dome field. I am a forever die-hard Tiger fan, season ticket holder and 30 year LSU staff member and have never seen a LSU team so down trodden from the coin toss right through the final seconds. Something was definitely amiss – both coaching and players. There are questions that need to be answered and will probably not be addressed until after the Recruit Signing “Party” in Febrauary – if ever. In my personal opinion, Jarrett Lee was shafted and my dear spouse was right on the money. He has been saying since the second interception in the Alabama game that Lee would never actually be a part of the offense again. Yes, he struggled with “Pick 6″ in previous years but the record also shows that he managed to pull the chestnuts out of the fire more than once as well. Rumors of Jordan Jefferson being seen in a casino and drinking days before the game are distrubing but not surprising, at least not for me. This year when Jordan Jefferson managed to embrass LSU, his team and probably his mother before stepping on the field even once – Jarrett Lee stepped up and lead a cohesive team to 8 decisive wins. As to an injury, LSU would have to announce him as injured and he would not have been allowed to dress out for the games or to hit the practice field. It was heartbreaking to watch that young athlete on the sidelines for the final few games – anyone paying attention saw the frustation and anguish. Is it believable that team mates “went to bat” for him – definitely!! . There are also rumors flying that T Bob Hebert and Jordan Jefferson had a physical altercation before the game. Also believable. Bobby Hebert may not be the most refined person to ask the questions of Les Miles but he was apparently the one with the balls to do so. Players must be held accountable for their actions on and off the field but ultimately the responsiblity falls squarely on the shoulders of the coaching staff, the Head Coach especially. LSU as a university is facing some really tough times financially with all the budget cuts to Higher Education and to have such a cloud hanging over the Athletic Department will not be good.

    To Gebre Menfes Kidus:
You speak of character as though it is something Alabama holds in highest regard – please. We at LSU are well aware of Nick Saban’s coaching style – he did win his 1st National Championship with the Tigers from down on the bayou. Who knows what may have happened had he not left to try and fail to acheive his dream of succesfully coaching on professional level. I digress – you sould walk into the stadium at Tuscaloosa wearing another team’s colors. You will find the true character of Alabama and find it not to be of the sterling quality that you portray. Alabama (the team) has “trash talked” with the best of them even with Saban at the helm. The Crimson Tide played a superb game on Monday night and they won the National Championship. You obivously do not have the character you speak of so highly.

  65. Just to get it out of the way, I am an Alabama fan. That being said, this story has some merit. I dont keep up with all of the ins and outs of LSU football. Tuesday morning after the game i was listening to the sports show in Birmingham, and all three of the hosts were saying something was up. They all said that the LSU team that showed up Monday night was definitely NOT the same team that played the first 8 games of the season. In the SEC, LSU is my second favorite team. Always has been. Until they hired Les Miles. I think he is an embarrassment to the SEC. If what is being stated in this post IS true, I hope that the powers that be for LSU take action. In a game like that, you put your ego aside, no matter if you are a coach or a player, to do what you need to do to put your team in a position to win the game. If this is true he clearly didnt do that. i totally agree with what most of you are posting on here about how the LSU fans deserve the RIGHT to know. You do. Hell, every college football fan out there deserves that. As an Alabama fan, i was looking forward to another knock down, drag out, hard hitting, nail biter, like November 5th. Hell, I feel cheated, and lied to. I can only imagine how the true blue Tiger fans feel.

I will say this tho. In regards to putting Mettenberger in, if Lee was hurt or what ever, if i were the coach, and knew what caliber of team I would be having for the next 2-3 years, i would have found someone else to put in besides him. Let me tell you why. If im not mistaken, he hasnt seen the field all year, so that means he is eligible for a red shirt right? Why pull his redshirt status with less than a half left. When clearly Bama has the momentum, and knowing that when i do, Saban, and Kirby Smart will start the blitzing. It probably wouldnt have change the outcome, just the final score. Save the kid for a very good chance to do what noone has been able to do since Tommy Fraizer and Nebraska. Have an excellent chance for legitimate repeat championships (USC doesnt count in the record books). LSU is deep, young, and talented. Dont waste a chance at multiple championships for 15 mins of saving face. If the powers that be were willing to pay him 5.8 mil a year if you had won this one, what do you think they would pay him if he could bring in back to back championships?

But hell, im an Alabama fan, what do i know about the state of LSU football. Im sorry that LSU didnt show up. I would have liked a better game. I know all of you would have at least wanted to have a chance to win. Keep your heads up, be proud, you represented the SEC extremely well for the whole season. To hell with what the rest of college football thinks. Roll Tide, and GEAUX TIGERS, See you all in Baton Rouge.

  66. I think its all true or at least very close or similar, LSU was by no means even remotely close to the caliber team they were all season. I am so disappointed with Les and his screw up QB, I created a facebook page titled Fire Les Miles, before the game was even over.

  67. I think its all true or at least very close or similar, LSU was by no means even remotely close to the caliber team they were all season. I am so disappointed with Les and his screw up QB, I created a facebook page titled Fire Les Miles, before the game was even over. Please feel free to go to it and discuss this subject more. http://m.facebook.com/home.php?refid=0&_rdr#!http://www.facebook.com/pages/Fire-Les-Miles/264070550327277?refid=17%23!/pages/Fire-Les-Miles/264070550327277?sk=wall

  68. The NCAA, LSU alumni and the fans of LSU need the truth. None of this game makes sense to say simply “LSU was unprepared”…..not true! LSU did not try. Was this game thrown away by the coach and the team over internal squabble? Was the coach suddenly that incompetent to not find some will to make a game of it? Did you see the team sitting there NO ONE talking to each other, no anger, flat expressions…….after 5 minutes it was all over?? Yes, Bama came to play and was prepared. Heck, Saban got upset with minute errors by his team. He COACHED the entire game and used his staff. Miles did none of that. His expressions said it all….by the end of 10 minutes play game over, get it over as soon as possible and one more thing……he began plans right there on the field to have a story he would rehearse and recite to the media. No conspiracy theory here….something was wrong, the LSU faithful were not told the truth.

  69. I am not an LSU fan, but my 21 year old son is, although I was pulling for LSU. Fans paid a lot of money just for a ticket. I’m sure sacrifices were made. The team owed their fans much more! Totally absurd! Embarrassed! Yes, I was embarrassed for them! And NO! LSU did not kill every team they played in regular season other than Bama. GO DAWGS!!!

  70. Belinda…calling Les M a loser is like calling a redbird blue. “Crazy” might be a good word for Les but not a loser. The lack of execution by the LSU offense could have been due to the UA defense. The decision by the coach not to play J Lee is a mysterious one for sure, but I believe he had his reasons.

  71. Let me first say this. LSU got their butt kicked by a better Bama team.

But, with that said, LSU should have at least shown up and from what I watched on Monday night they didn’t show up.

The rumors are flying and they should be since LSU was poised to have books written about this team the way they played the 2011 season.

I have heard that Lee got a DUI last week and Miles was keeping it quiet. Not sure but it would explain why Lee never got in the game.

I have heard about a very large wager being placed on Bama the week before leads to wonder what that Bama fan knew.

The fight between players makes a lot of sense and that explains the divisive attitude shown by the players after halftime when coming out of locker room.
If Miles did all of what’s being said, then he is to take all of the blame and hue should be the one who falls.

As I am typing this, my kids are going nuts and I am still in shock (again this week) after the Saints loss so this might not be written very well and I apologize.

I just wanted to toss out what I have heard from different sources higher and mostly very lower, but when you add them up it starts to make sense.

  72. That game was the most pitiful thing i have ever seen.. LSU(the 12-0 SEC Champ team) would have smoked the Tide. Miles is a publicity loving moron and was not prepared for this game. Nick Saban is alot more cunning, inovative, and over all a better coach. I agree with Bobby Hebert, we would take Saban back in a heartbeat. LSU as a school brings in recruits better than Les Miles could ever dream of. He was brought into a system where he could not fail. LSU spends alot of time in the spotlight because it is a winning school. LSU being in the top ranks every year, brings in talent without the aid of a retard like Miles. High caliber players dont come to play for teams because the academics are good. They come because they want to be noticed and play with other winners, so that when their senior year rolls around everyone is talking about them going into the draft. A loss like this is pathetic and i wouldnt be suprised if alot of the recruits that were thinking about coming to LSU change thier minds. I wouldn’t want to play for Miles either. I love LSU and i want them to “WIN!!!” every game they play no matter what sport, but after that loss i am disgraced.

  73. It seems likely that the story has some validity. Let’s face it LSU was a team full of talent and lacking in self discipline. From bar fights to suspensions for use of “synthetic marijuanna” use. LSU proved you can have the talent and without team unity and self control you will fail. On the contrary Alabama proved that when you combine talent, leadership, team unity, and self discipline the rewards are high. Congratulations to Alabama on a CLASSY National Championship!!! ROLL TIDE!!!

  74. It sure looks like Jefferson and Miles needs to start lookin for another place to play ball. A teams like a family. You have to respect eac other or the team will have no respect and won’t play with there hearts for you. Now you may never get them back to where they need to be. Send Miles and Jefferson on there way and let a team player and coach in.

  75. If everyone would get their head out of the clouds and admit it,if you watched the first meeting between these two teams you know how simular the games were Bama actually beat LSU in the first game statistically, and with that long to prepare you should have known Saban would have a game plan ready,no conspiracy, just an old fashioned ass whipping!!!

    • You are obviously a Crimson Tide fan and should take pride in the BCS Championship but it is you who has his head in the clouds. Stats are great and help an opposing team prep for an upcoming game but points are what decide the winner of a game. That would 9 to 6, LSU the winner. Yes, Alabama had time to stratagize and get a game plan – that would be because LSU was still playing and prepping to win the SEC Championship game. Oops, Bama didn’t have to worry about that did they? The wheels fell off for LSU and Alabama may have won the game no matter what. We as LSU fans want an explanation/justification for the lack of performance – I am sure, if the same happened with the Crimson Tide, you would want the same.

  76. Miles needs to go. He has lost the respect of his players because of his huge ego. He gave away the game just “to show them” he could. He’s like a child who if the rest of the kids won’t play his way he’ll just take his ball and go home. Well, Les, go home, a new home very very far away from LSU. You proved what an egotistical jerk you really are. I just feel sorry for LSU and the fall out from this fiasco.

  77. Why would you keep a quarterback in who was fumbling the ball, throwing interceptions, running, running and fricking running for no reason, looking confused, and playing with no confidence? Just does not make sense. WE, as LSU fans, who pay his salary and inject MILLIONS of dollars into the school and community, deserve a FULL explanation OR I want my money back. I hope Jarret Lee, once he is away from LSU, will write a book or go on the sports show circuit.

  78. Other then my Longhorns I been a fan of LSU since the 50′s. I was disappointed how poorly LSU played. I do not know the reason why they did but I would suspect team was reading to many headlines and got over confident. I read and heard a lot of rumor I hope they are not true.

  79. Miles may be the decision maker but the fans hard earned money is what pays His salary . The stands go empty and they don’t have the funds to pay Miles. The fans deserve an apology for that horrible offense played .

  80. The Voice of Rock

Honestly LSU is VASTLY over rated every year… They are ALWAYS three fluke Jesus miracles and tow really bad officiating calls from being a 5-5 team..They just got exposed for the average team they are .. They should have lost the first game

  81. I will disagree w/ those on here that say Les is a bad coach..he’s NOT a bad coach..a coach should be a motivator, recruiter and a leader..BUT WHAT he is not is a play caller..he is a part of the TEAM that calls the plays NOT something he can do well by himself. I am and have been an LSU fan since 96..I have NEVER been more disappointed to be a fan than that night…I would believe all of thi 100% and wouldn’t put it past Les since he has been in the spotlight ad won numerous awards to go along w/ the season. Reminds me of mighty ducks 2 when Bombay became a jerk and the kids had to show him he was. I pray that its all lies but only time will tell..plus if Lee was so bad the why did they win games still w/out JJ when he’s was acting dumb and got caught?

  82. I think LSU, Les Miles, and the players who didn’t show up, owe all the LSU fans an apology for their total lack of enthusiasum, desire, and motivation to win this game! There was obviously some adversity on the team and some discontent among the players, which goes back to Miles, he’s the general, it’s his job to get his team ready! I do believe this article has credence, because looking at the body language of the players, you could see they weren’t mentally into this game. You have to question why did T-Bob Hebert, a senior, not play a down, RS only 3 plays, same plays called over and over again, something was amiss! Looking ahead to next year, already pre-ranked 1st or 2nd, the pressure will surely be on Miles lets see if he can handle it!

  83. hey rock, are you still in elementary school? does your mommy and daddy know you play on the computer? LSU is great and always will be! they play REAL teams every year and come out dominant. so how do you figure they are over-rated? i think you should leave football alone and go back to watching sesame street.

  84. If you care about LSU at all you need to read this. Its the morning after the Saints loss and there’s news about the ‘real’ LSU football team. The good news is two years from now ESPN will be doing a documentary about the ‘behind closed doors’ antics of what could have been the greatest College Football team of all time. Thanks Les, I’ll have to stop over for a cup of EGO, heard there’s enough of it to go around.

    • You are right. The Saint’s showed up for the game, played hard, never gave up, but up short. That the way it goes. No regrets. The Tigers did not show up, were poorly motivated and coached. They were jumped on by the Tide, held down and violated without resisting nor even a whimper. This battle was akin to Little Bighorn. It was lost before the players ever took the field. The only difference was that Miles, (unlike Custer) stayed off of the field of battle and watched his players get massacred.

  85. Bottom line is that Nick Saban did his homework, he knew that Les Miles wouldn’t pull Jefferson and put Lee in. So all he had to do was stop a running game and he did just that! Les may be a lot of things, a good recruiter, a good motivator, and a good coach, but he’s predictable in how he plays his players, he lost confidence in Lee after two interceptions and pulled him never to give him a thought after that. It was Lee that lead LSU, in all the early games and he is a good quarterback. Would it have changed the outcome of the game? We’ll never know

  86. Will we ever REALLY know what happened? It does smell fishy. Everybody I talk to says the same thing….and wonder if Jefferson “threw” the game for $$$. I was so disappointed in that game. It was awful……13-1 record was really something to be proud of living in Louisiana….but, that last game was a big disappointment. BAMA beat us for sure……they had a better coach and a better team…..but, what happened??????? There has to be more to the picture……..

  87. After witnessing the NC game, I believe that Les Miles either intentionally threw the game or that Jordan Jefferson has some bad pictures of Les and somebody. Miles treated Lee as if he was caught with his wife or something. Any way, there should be some kind of investigation into this. Hell, they use congress to investigate other sports, why not take it as far as that? Everyone in the nation knows that something was wrong with the team, we as fans (paying hard earned money to see their team), deserve the truth. HOLD SOMEONE ACCOUNTABLE. Having coached baseball for several years, I was the one and only one accountable for my teams actions. Miles should be man enough to tell the truth and be the one held accountable, unless there are some illegal actions uncovered.

  88. Whether true or not will eventually come out. The TRUTH always will eventually. All I know is the attitude of the Offense leans that way, play calling leans that way, lack of emotion by Head Coach leans that way, frustration and constant shook up look of Jefferson leans that way. If it is in fact True, it’s a Tragedy to all the players that have trusted there careers with him, worked hard for him, themselves, there school, and there fans. The Team should not be punished further by an NCAA investigation, but there should be an investigation internally and if it is found to be true, someone MUST be fired! If NOT I say to all LSU fans, we should show LSU that it will not be tolerated by not ONE SINGLE FOOTBALL TICKET BOUGHT for the first game of 2012 season.!!!!!!

To pay the ticket prices we pay to watch our team play, we should get more than this type of internal chaos from a EGOTISTICAL Head Coach or Offensive Coordinator either way!

Just a sad outcome whether true or not, to a GREAT season by a always talented Football team.

  89. Anthony P. Savarino

The team’s performance resulted from a total lack of leadership stemming from the moment Jordan Jefferson was allowed back onto the team. He’s a thug. Not even a good one. He got caught getting kicking a man in the head while he was on the ground in a fight he had nothing to do with while breaking curfew, drinking at a bar. Jefferson belonged no where near the Superdome that night because he should be in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. Miles/Jefferson reminds me a lot of Buddy Ryan/Jim McMahon or Bum Phillips/Earl Campbell. Greater coaches than Miles have ended their careers by becoming enamored with a particular player. Maintaining discipline is one thing, but sometimes the extent of a mutiny is telling. The hard truth here that no one wants to face is that Les Miles essentially tanked a game out of petulance. (for Alabama fans that means he threw a temper tantrum) One might expect this kind of behavior out of a prima donna 20-something player. But Miles is a grown man with responsibilities to the entire team, scores of fans, and a major university. An explanation or an apology simply will not be sufficient. The LSU administration must publicly and with full explanatory disclosure fire Les Miles. The Mad Hatter needs to go back through the looking glass while the university seriously looks for an offensive minded coach with a commitment to recruiting pocket passers.

  90. If this article is true this would be a prime example of never let your emotions make your decision.

  91. It’s rummored that Les Miles took a 15 million dollar pay off and sold his team and fans out. That definatley needs to be looked into. Wouldn’t you think that could have been the fire?? Some rings true about this.

  92. To all you Les Mile haters and blamers I’m calling you out. You need to look at the bigger picture and not twist things to your liking because of what you want which was LSU to win and Jarrett Lee to play. Think about it. For Les Miles not to play Jarrett Lee his senior year in the BCS National Championship, Lee must of said or did something pretty bad. Les Miles is a man of character. He does what he believes is the right thing to do regardless what the players, assistant coaches, or the people say to do. Why should he listen to the players, he is the head coach. He gets paid millions of dollars to do what is best for the team and above all to do the right thing and he takes his job very seriously. Knowing the trouble that Jordan Jefferson got in earlier this year and if its true about him drinking heavily at Harrahs then you ask yourself why did he play the whole game. Think about it. Like I said Lee must of done or said something really bad and probably had a stinking attitude all during the end of the season. I have heard through another source that Lee was doing very poor academically and having relationship troubles. Along with him being benched during the 1st Alabama game this all came to a boiling point with him and Les Miles. Look back a couple years ago. Brandon Lafell was stinking so bad on the field. He was dropping passes left and right but Les Miles never gave up on him just like he never gave up on Lee when Lee wasn’t up to par. Lafell comes back next year and Les puts all his faith and trust in him and Lafell becomes their number 1 receiver and rockets up to the top of the draft board for wide receivers. Why was he never pulled when he stunk so bad at first? Probably because he made decent grades and didn’t have an attitude. I have seen Les Miles do opposite of what the crowd wanted time and time again because he believes in his players and cares more about doing the right thing than he does about winning games and championships. So what do you want more a man of outstanding character or man who wins championships. If you want the latter choice go after Saban and get him back.

    • The Les Miles publicity team has arrived!! You really believe all that you have written? There are such things as coaches who have character AND win championships. Whatever the reason, Miles did not have the Mad Hatter magic even in his back pocket that Monday night in the Super Dome. It doesn’t matter how you try to dress it up or explain it away – Les Miles is the Head Coach and should be held accountable by the people who pay his salary – the fans in the seats in Tiger Stadium. Do you have access to the LSU student records – you can’t possibly know how Jarrett Lee stands academically unless you are breaching LSU policy and/or several laws. Attitude? Possibly – wonder how you react to be replaced by someone who was arrested for a criminal act and benched for what amounts to be rest of the season? Attitude – let’s discuss that for a moment. Arrogance and obvious disregard for team curfew’s that would be the QB that could not play the beginning of the season for being arrested. Apparently, these are transgressions which merit reward because they certainly were. Most fans don’t really want to call plays or make decisions for the coaching staff, they just want to know that the person being paid to do so is actually putting some thought into the job.

  93. I guess all of you are college football analyst. You all think you know so much! Suck it up people. It’s over. Geaux Tigers!!!!

  94. You know nothing about football…if the defense is out there for practically the entire game against an alabama offense and shutting down trent and only giving up 21 points with mostly field goals id say thats pretty damn good

  95. It was very evident that Alabama did not play the same LSU team that beat them earlier in the season. Looking a the team on the side lines showed dejection from the kickoff to the end of the game. We may never know the complete truth unless someone from the team steps up and let the fans know. Did Alabama really have the better team? I do not think so.

  96. I believe Les is irritated at the name “Mad Hatter” that Reese Davis gave him after the Florida game in 2007. What we need is the old Les Miles who thinks outside the box…not the one he has become since he got that badge of honor.

  97. My brother an I are from Florida, “have no dog in this hunt,” an could care less who would win this game! ( at least it was all-SEC ) Having said that, we called each other during the game thinking that the LSU quarterback ( and or the offensive line ) “tanked” the game! And now, reading some of these comments, we are convinced! Is it true Jefferson an others were out in the “Quarter” and Harrah’s without a curfew ( after what happened early in the season? ). C’mon Coach? The BCS championship game!! Also, watching pre-game interviews with the Bama players, they were “all business” saying they were here on a business trip ( and they certainly took care of their business ). But, did they get “extra” help from some of the LSU players? An investigation won’t change the game results but would certainly help clarify what really happened! We hope “the Cajun Cannon” and maybe even some investigative reporters will “dig” a little deeper …. it would be nice to know the real truth!!

  98. It all came down to preparation and team unity. You can say what you want about the first bama game how bama couldve shouldve wouldve. They didnt and lsu did what it took to win. I definetly believe something went on before the game considering certain players not playing and the playbook shrunk. Not to mention bobby hebert seeming like he wanted to kick les in the bean bag. A lot of us wanted to. I also think there were issues with lee since the first bama game. I mean you go from a starter to barely even getting a chance for mop up duty. If lee wasnt going to play zach or whoever the considered number 3 shouldve practiced with the first team and been ready. In football you are only one play away from changing qbs. So what was les’s plan probably didnt have one just probably was stubborn like always and wouldve been hung out to dry if jj wouldve got hurt. Take the ole miss a few years back for example he apoligized afterwards saying they shouldve been prepared. hmm coach shouldve known that by now 2 min offense should be practiced and perfected. That’s a difference in the game a lot times. Im upset with les if this is true, and im kinda wierd with how the players acted they kind of hung each other out to dry and now that i think about it harder that wasnt intentional just a bad situation. I cant say i blame em sounds like everything just broke down in an instant. All you people saying Lsu is overrated alabama, arkansas auburn west virginia georgia oregon florida we smoked em all three top 5 teams 8 top 25 teams oh and sec champs all more than 13 points except for bama. So if think they overrated do me and yourself a favor get game tapes of the whole season and go back and watch while reading football for dummies because you obviously dont understand the game. Go watch soccer or something until you finish your book, and you can comeback after your done you got till september get to work if not enjoy your soccer. I hope all the players have a change of heart and les gets his mind right. If not the program will take a dip, and thats a shame for how much they built it up and how much hard work the players put in. All i have to say true or not les you look plum retarded last monday. HANDLE YOUR BUSINESS!!!

  99. Senior Day, his only one Lee gets knee duty at the end of the game. SEC Championship his last one, Lee gets knee duty at the end of the game. BCS Championship once in a career for some Lee never takes a snap and Jefferson looks like a 3rd grader running the option, crosses the 50 once and makes some preschool attempts to improvise on his screw ups and gets up looking for somebody to blame everytime. Not once did he tap his chest and say this is on me. and Les well he stands on the sideline with the same stupid look the entire game. No adjustment at half NOTHING. If you would have told me before the season we would be living on Jared Lee’s ability to go undefeated I would have told you NUTS but he covered Miles’ butt and what payback did he get, mop up and the bench. We would have not beat Bama with the switch to Lee but it would have been nice to see what MIGHT have happened. It would have at least given us a chance to say Goodbye and Thanks to the QB who put us on the road to the undefeated regular season. Live a Good Life Jared Lee You Earned It and a Big Thanks from the Tiger Nation!!

  100. Richard H. McComic

A coach, in my humble opinion has to understand and evaluate talent on his team, then
he must combine such talent into a well desire to win! Miles can scratch all of Northeastern
Texas in recruting after way he treated QB — recruting as a whole got set-back 10 years
or more by Miles reaction. I’D NEVER ALLOW MY SON TO PLAY FOR SUCH A MESS
    REGARDLESS!

    • I agree with you RHMcC, the most damaging aspect to this whole fiasco is to the recruiting. LSU had a national stage on which to polish its brand and what did they do? a FACE PLANT!

Yes, Coach Saban and his team beat LSU like a rented mule. But a loss would not have hurt LSU’s brand if the team had put up some kind of fight.

As for this rumor, like everyone I’m curious to know what happened, and this “story” seems to be a sound explanation that matches the results we saw.

Doubtful that we will be told the truth but, it’s hard for me to believe that the players involved will ultimately be able to resist blabbing it on twitter or FB, or to fellow players at the senior bowls that are being played this week. Word will spread about the chaos and stubbornness of Coach Miles and his staff (or whatever the real story is). You know they’ve already told their families, and their families will spread it (via twitter, facebook, texting, gossiping.)

This dud of an effort at the BCS National Title Game gives the whole program a black eye and really tarnishes LSU’s historic, undefeated, sparkling season.

      And that’s a tragedy.

  101. Yea i thought it was kinda funny a back up Quarterback gets invited to TWO all-star games and the starter got NOTHING, NOTHING, what a damn joke.

  103. I think there’s some truth to this but I also think some of the information leaked was exaggerated at some point from an unknown source. Hopefully it was all just hearsay but you never know what happens behind closed doors.

  104. Just as I was beginning to think Les was a sly fox of a coach, he proves his stupidity.
He left the door open for JJ to come back to the team when he really did not deserve it. I can live with that; grace, forgiveness, moving on to the future, and of course possible greediness thinking JJ was the better QB.

Apparently, he did not give Lee the same respect out of pettiness, jealousy, or whatever. As a HC at a major university, you have to discipline your players first. The player who will fold first when the game gets tough is the same player that will break the rules, cheat, and act like a thug. That is one reason that classroom performance is in general, a good indicator of teamsmanship.

Les is stupid if he let some type of petty jealousy keep him from playing Lee. Good coaches keep all of their options open. You don’t go into a game like that and state in advance you are not going to play Lee at QB. It would have been interesting if JJ had gotten injured. LSU may have played a very different ball game.

Credit still goes to bama. They played a great game.

  105. I don’t know everything in the article is true, but I do know THIS. “Some” LSU players were partying and bringing in girls ALL NIGHT long at the Hilton. That came from a Hilton employee………the aunt of one of my students. I read in the paper that the team had a self imposed curfew of 12:00……………..I can see how that would upset players if their quarterback wasn’t following it. He’s supposed to be a LEADER.
And……..I am ashamed of Miles for not giving Lee a chance to make a difference in the National Championship game when he is just as responsible as Jefferson for getting his team there. LSU had 0 points………….what would it have hurt? You can’t get any “LES” than that!

  106. Pingback: Problems at LSU? - VolNation

  107. I was told from a VERY inside and reliable source that after LSUs first game with Bama, Miles and Lee had words.iles told Lee he wouldn’t play another down this season (except the slap in the face kneel down).

  108. Look folks…LSU was a great team all year–except when they played Bama. And I’m not a Bama fan, but a Vol fan…Bama beat LSU everywhere but on the scoreboard in the first game and it wasn’t even close…Bama scored–albeit field goals–in the NC game and the outcome would have been the same in November if Bama would have converted their scoring opportunities.

LSU is a great team defensively but only average on offense. Bama would have crushed any college team in America on Jan. 9th because they truly are the best team in college football!

  109. that was good that what i hard

  110. It appeared to me that Jordan Jefferson was trying to “throw” the game. I wondered at the time if he or one of his family had bet against LSU and stood to win some serious money. His play was so poorly executed until it was blatant. When they ran the option — more than once — he was supposed to block for the outside receiver once he pitched the ball. He would pitch the ball and stand there while the receiver got plastered with ‘Bama defenders.

Regardless of what internal disputes may have arisen, it is a question of personal character and integrity for each player to give his best in every game he plays and to come prepared to each practice and each game (eating right, sleeping, no drinking, no drugs). Those players live high and have their college education completely covered. This provides them with the foundation not only for the NFL, but for a profession after they leave pro ball (if they even go that route). If they are willing to take the money (in the form of athletic scholarships) they are honor-bound to render the services to the best of their ability.

You can rest assured that pro players don’t agree with every call or coaching decision pro coaches make, but if they accept the paycheck, they are honor-bound to play to their best ability. The same is true here. These kids are learning how to be professionals, and pro scouts are just as concerned about a player’s professionalism and attitude as they are their natural athletic ability and skills. There are many professionals (in all disciplines) that may not have been the most talented, but they were the hardest workers and the most dedicated and disciplined, and they succeeded where some greater talents failed because of it.

It’s easy to “pile on” Miles, but there’s always more to the story. The offense has been inconsistent for four years, due, in large part, to the fact that we have not had a QB staff that was consistent. Jefferson has the physical skill, but seems to lack the decision-making and the discipline. Lee has the game-management skills and is a good pocket passer, but he isn’t a running QB, and, in the SEC, you pretty much have to have one or have an offensive line that can beat ‘Bama and their ilk. We didn’t have that kind of an OL (most teams don’t). And then there’s the shuffling that took place with the OC was diagnosed with Parkinson’s.

Miles has coped with a number of challenges this year, not the least of which was some very unprofessional and undisciplined behavior from a number of his players (names mentioned here already). You can get into serious trouble, miss practices, drink heavily and show up unprepared and expect a coach to give a lot of weight to your input. You earn respect by showing respect, and these kids did not show Miles, the team or the school much respect if any of this is true.

Those that were guilty of this should be kicked off the team permanently. And if Jefferson, et al., threw the game for any reason, the school should take legal action to recover their scholarship money and prevent them from playing in the NCAA anywhere else.

    • Jefferson can not play in the NCAA – his eligibility is up. Might be interesting to see if the scholarship money could be recovered. We finished the regular season with a 13-0 record despite setbacks and bad decisions. The “you earn respect by showing respect” also applies to the coaching staff. A flagrant offender of not showing respect to team rules and fellow players as well as the coaching staff certainly reaped rewards not consequences for those offenses. He “led” the Tigers to 21-0 BCS Championship loss. Can’t imagine anthing more disrepectful than being arrested for a felony assault while breaking curfew at a off limits bar.

  111. Come on people…LSU just plain got beat. The rest is sour grapes…stop being a bunch of cry-babies that couldn’t stand the pressure of the spotlight. As a long-time Tiger fan, you are embarrassing us all.

  112. jenny wilkerson shipley

    True!

  113. they did Lee so wrong…on his last game as a Tiger, after basically getting us through regular season, he gets benched because of an alleged argument?!?!?! If this is true Miles needs to be FIRED ASAP!!

  114. Regardless of what happened and it is obvious that something did, ALABAMA played one helluva game and Saban, like him or not, had his boys prepared and they ruled the day. If these rumors are true, and we may never know, I applaud the character of Miles to take the blame himself and not air dirty laundry. WE DON’T NEED TO KNOW WHY! It’s over! Move on! Obviously something did happen and Miles chose to deal with it in his own way. The arrogance of the LSU players was shown more times than just once this season. It is not all about winning! Winning is preferred, of course, but when it comes to dissension in the ranks, clear direct action will teach these players far more than winning a BCS title. That’s leadership! I certainly did not see ANY coming from the players all season!

    • He didn’t take the blame, he ran for cover. Seen any interviews with him since the game – other than the one that didn’t follow his script? Speaking of arrogance – the coach states “we didn’t/weren’t prepared”!?! Last time I checked that was the main focus of a Head Coach especially for a National Championship game. I guess you could say he took responsibility but it certainly wasn’t with professionalism. Yes, players can be arrogant but not just LSU. Did you happen to watch any of the Alabama players that night or any night they were on a football field? Take the time watch any team play and tell me that arrogance never appears. Sadly it is a part of any sport. The road to a perfect season will certainly bring that out. Arrogance is not just a player ailment. Saban has even shown arrogance from time to time.

      • Arrogance on the field is bravura…..off the field and to your coack is stupidity and definitely shows a lack of maturity. I did not see many interviews with him other than right after the game where he said he took full responsibility for the loss. Not much more information was offered. Saban is definitely arrogant! That’s why he falls so hard! Something was definitely “going on” but as earlier expressed we will probably never know. Following the thread on this blog…..I believe it may well be in the best interest of the team and to protect the players involved that the dirty laundry not be aired……the season is over and there is nothing to be gained by continuing to rehash it! It was still a great season….

  115. yea there is a reason they lost ! .. because BAMA came there to win and that’s exactly what they did !!!!! even if LSU was on top of their game ! I BELIEVE that BAMA still would have won ..not only because I am a BAMA fan..there is more reasons than that.. you look at the emotions that was coming from the side lines of the players that knew that was their last game to ever play w/ BAMA … they would not have let LSU beat them again !!…when BAMA lost to LSU in the reg season all i read/heard about was .oooo BAMA is just making excuses of why they lost !!!!…what in the world is this …but and excuse !!!…yea they probably got in a fight or whatever..big deal … if those LSU players wanted that CHAMPIONSHIP bad enough …IN MY OPINION .. nothing should have kept them from playing as hard as they could/should !!!!! this is absolutely CRAZY to me !!!!!!!! you have some people pointing fingers at Les .. then you have some pointing fingers at JJ … but before that game those two people were the best thing since sliced bread to MOST of y’all … I mean am I just crazy or .. is this not just some excuse?

    • No Jessica! miles and jj were not the best thing since slice bread before or even after every game to every fan. Some of us have all ways though miles’ head was way too big. And many of us, hated the way he treated Jarret Lee. That young man DESERVED play time in that big game because he EARNED it. LSU is a TEAM, not two individuals with big egos. It takes a TEAM to build a season like we had. Even us, who are not coaches and would never pretend to be, know that something was wrong with our TEAM. Yes, we did see the big difference on the sidelines. Honestly, our boys looked like zombies in total shock much like the LSU fans. We DO deserve an explanation from miles for his actions. And NO, we DO NOT believe the BS he has been spouting to the press about just not being able to get the ball down the field. He owes the fans and everyone who tuned in to see the greatest college football game ever that explanation and not some sorry ass excuses. Some say he doesn’t owe us anything because the TIGERS had a 13 – 1 season. But I say, HE OWES US AN EXPLANATION BECAUSE OF THE 13 – 1 SEASON! And yes, I do believe you could be right about BAMA winning. Both teams were equally matches at their very best and the boys all wanted this big win. The one BIG difference is that SABEN showed up with HIS BOYS to coach the biggest game of his life! And, he did just that! So Congrats to BAMA for an awesome win! It could have been such an exciting game! This was NOT a normal end to the season the TIGERS had and you don’t have to be a Rocket Scientist to figure that one out, Jessica!

  116. Let me start by saying I’m not an LSU fan. I was very impressed with their season. The first time during the game I saw a close up of JJ I thought he looked hung over. I did hear that LSU players had no curfew the night before the game. Les told them to use their best judgment. I don’t know if this is true or not but JJ definitely had blood shot eyes. I don’t believe Les threw the game because of the large raise he was due to receive with a win. JJ would have had a job for life in Louisiana if he had won the NC for LSU. I only see two possible explanations: A team mutiny just before the game due to JJ being unprepared to play or Bama’s defense was in fact one of the greatest in history and LSU simply couldn’t do anything. I’m leaning toward the mutiny theory. One other thing I’m not sure of. Is LSU successful because of or in spite of Les?

  117. I wonder if Miles had a Vegas bet on Bama.

  118. I used to think that Les was more, but now I see he is a sorry piece of shit! I say “FIRE HIS ASS”!! Lee deserved to play. It was evident that Jefferson was on something or just plain hung over and had no clue where he was or what he was ‘SUPPOSED’ to be doing. I am disappointed in the outcome and feel like we were all thrown under the bus. Get Miles out of there and give us a coach who is in it for the players, not just the spot light and a pay check. Always an LSU fan but can’t stand Les!!! GEAUX TIGERS!!!

  119. Gonzales and Lee can leave LSU with their heads held high, and Jefferson should crawl back home with his tail between his legs, and Miles should take his Ego and go to the NFL as he has planned all along.

  120. Stanley Bordelon

I know my Uncle was a Yankee from Michigan as for as Coach Miles being stubborn I think all these people are made the same way its their way or know way at all , I can believe this true because no coach in his right frame of mind would call the same exact plays every time LSU had the ball , theirs no way in hell you are ever score with those plays , the way I look at this is Miles wanted to show these young men he is the Boss an they lose what ashamed also I know Jefferson likes to party a lot an play cards so his team mates were probably right ,as for the Lee thing I just don know why Miles treated him this way . It all Boils down to Money an Power.

  121. Les let the team down and he should be ashamed of himself. The defense played good enough to win had the offense done anything. The LSU D was on the field for 2/3rd’s of the game and just wore out in the 4th quarter.

T-Bob has tweeted that the story was untrue but it is such good explanation it seems plausible.

I’m just glad I’ll never have to watch JJ play another down at QB. FWIW after 5 years he finally found out he was a better defensive player than a QB…. he knocked the Alabama player out after the interception. It’s sad that no one recognized the guy had that talent. JJ is not a leader as he blamed his teammates for the 3 fumbles and 1 interception.

  122. This story makes me sick – but it was obvious something went on and a lot of this rings true. Bottom line – the coach was absent from the field Monday night and there is no one to blame but Les Miles. The thrill of LSU football is gone – Les is a fake and a poor coach and I hope he makes a speedy departure from LSU. As for the thug Jordan Jefferson – I hear that the Rams might have a waterboy position available – but actually that insults the water boy. Jarrett Lee, we all love you and thank you for a terrific year. If not for you, the year would not have been exciting.

  123. If Petrino had Hatter’s talent, he would be NC every other year

  124. Well, I guess that excuse about Miles and the OCoord is as good as any…better than some. If the defense is on the field for a long time, won’t the opposing offense get tired, too? Seems like UofA controlled the line of scrimmage both ways. Best bet is to put this game in the rear view mirror and move forward, that is until this season when the defending National Champions come to Baton Rouge for a second helping of baby tiger meat. Ummm so tasty with red beans and rice. ROLLL TIDE

  125. LSU in Fayetteville next year…..geaux down the drain pipe

  126. Where there’s smoke there’s fire.

  127. Chris O stated upthread that:

“Players were not rotated as they were all during the season,…”

Could this be because Coach Miles did bench some of the Offensive players? and so he could only run plays with the sets of guys they practiced specific plays with?

At the post game conference Coach said he “wished [he] could’ve done more to help them.” Was he regretting not imposing a team curfew instead of letting them come in on the honor system??? Did some of them violate their Unity Counsel’s “self imposed” curfew of midnight?

So curious to know, if guys were benched, why? And, why he did not try to play Lee or Mett? Was he leaving JJ in to “teach him a lesson” or punish him some how? (that would be a cruel act, I think).

Was Jarret Lee actually benched all these weeks for some reason? Why did Coach Miles put him in the Arkansas game just to take a knee (that’s just mean) but, not play a single down in the SEC Champ Game?

    Inquiring minds want to know.

Obviously the team had a major malfunction. Coach didn’t exert enough control of his team going into the game on Monday.

And now its rumored that QB Gunner Kiel may be heading to Notre Dame. Perhaps he’s having 2nd thoughts after the BSCNCG calamity or…or he’s heard thru tweets that QB Mettz is calling LSU “my team” and R Shepherd is staying because of the “Mettenberger ….airshow next year”. Maybe Kiel was promised more of a starting role at LSU and now it’s all Mettenberger this and Mettenberger that.

[ok, now I'm off topic so I'll stop here. Thanks for listening.]

  128. This is what happens when you have some of the best talent in the lands and you just assume you can run over everyone. I started to think what if a Boise, or a Ted Tedford, or Chip Kelly got a hold of LSU and transformed this offense with all theit talent. It would be a nightmare.

  129. knew something bad had to have taken place but jeez…really?!

  130. I’ll never respect that SOB Myles. GEAUX TIGERS

  131. Pitiful coaching by LSU. Houston Nutt is looking for a job!

  132. Sure sounds right on. Les is a very hard headed coach and jefferson from get go was horrible. What the worst was it wasnt fair to the team and the fans. Esp after such a great season. Thx miles for letting the state of la down. Very heartbroken lost.

  133. I don’t understand why LSU fans just can’t get over the fact that LSU/Miles got out coached by Sabin. He has been doing that almost all his coaching career. In the Gators/Bama game a few years ago, Bama intercepted Tebow “shuttle” pass in the endzone. Sabin knew he was going to throw it BEFORE Meyer called it. He has won 3 of the last 5 College Championships in which he was an active college coach. The man can coach!!!!! Maybe LSU fans just can’t come to grip reality. You wanted Miles gone, then he beats Fl- Meyer/Tebow, then you throw him a parade! Saban out coached you, hands down! Maybe there is some bitterness there, since he did the exact same thing to other teams while at LSU!?

  134. Congrats to the LSU Nation on a great season from this BAMA fan. I am one that never thinks BAMA is good enough no matter what they’re record is so I was nervous all day thinking and hoping that we would play better offensively than we did in the first game. McCarron played better than I ever dreamed he would play but when Maze went down I thought we would be in trouble. If the outcomes of games depended on one side of the ball, they may still be playing as I type this. The LSU D made a statement that #3 would not beat them by running the ball. They were well keyed in on Trent even more so than on Nov. 5. The LSU D played lights out for as long as they could but as many of you have stated if you’re not getting many stops in such a physical game, the D will wear down.
I still don’t understand why Miles didn’t use Randall and Shepard and the rest of your receivers to move the ball down field. Even use the RBs in the screen game or throwing to them out of the backfield. I certainly don’t pretend to have the answers nor would I try to give any but mostly just wanted to congratulate you all on a damn good season.

  135. There’s a fault-line in the LSU program and nation. The fans are split between Les Miles being a moron or a prophet. For a team that got statistically beat in Tuscaloosa but edged out a field goal victory in overtime the fans and maybe team and staff may have convinced themselves they were better than they actually were. They had a lackluster game against Miss. St. ..struggled mightly in the first half against Arkansas and Georgia…LSU defense got lucky in Tuscaloosa with the goal line interception. But I must admit for a team with a real good defense the LSU offense pull a few rabbits out their butts against Bama(Nov 5th), Arkansas and the SEC CG with Ga. It seems strangethe LSU looked and played there absolute worst in the title game. They had no spirit on the sidelines. From start to finish. Miles didn’t clap…No trash talking from the sidelines…just not LSU’s genre for 2011….I know the #1 defense in the nation didn’t have anything to do with it just a bunch of little boys mad at the coach.

  136. Rickey P. Perero

Les, just when I start to think that you are a real coach you prove me wrong. You should be ashamed of yourself. Lee brought us to where we were, and you just ignored him. I am ashamed to call you the Head Coach of my LSU Tigers. To tell the truth, you should be treated as a TRAITOR, and we all know how traitors are treated.

  137. Remember when Coach Bryant benched Joe Namath just before the Sugar Bowl against Mississipppi, which we watched from snow-filled stands. The Tide won anyway, with sophomore QB Steve Sloan, staunch defense, 7 Old Miss turn-overs and 4 Tim Davis field goals from beyond 40 yards, one was 50-something yards, as I recall, and a hellish goal-line stand in the closing seconds – a big upset – 12-7.

So, is there any fire under the smoke? Will there be an investigation of the allegations re Miles? Have any of these allegations been aired in New Orleans or Baton Rouge press? I have seen nothing on television about any of it.

My recollection of the Alabama-LSU game in Tuscaloosa, the Tide beat up on Lee so bad that Jefferson was sent in to replace him, and from there Jefferson played out the season as the LSU starting QB, and Lee saw limited duty. Maybe Miles remembered that in betting on Jefferson, on whose watch LSU edged out Alabama in the first game.

I thought Alabama should have won the first game by two touchdowns, or by even more, and gave the game away due to lots of stupid penalties, some poor decisions by A.J. McCarren (spelling?), lousy punting, lousy place-kicking and kickoffs, lousy punt and kick-off defense, and some not particularly stellar play-calling by the Tide coaching staff. [And turnovers.]

A different Tide team and coaching staff showed up for the BSC Championship, with only one late non-consequential 5-yard penalty, over which Saban went ballistic, no poor decisions by McCarren, much better kicking and punting, stellar kick-off and punt return defense, and lots better play-calling. [No turnovers.]

Looked to me like about the same LSU team that was given the first game, except in the BSC game, the Tide defense wore out Jordon Jefferson, like they wore out Lee in the first game.

Also looked to me, LSU made no adjustments for the second game, while the Tide made lots of adjustments, but I already said that.

I never thought Miles was in Saban’s league, but Miles’ teams have proven he is a good coach, and his team this year beat up on every team but Alabama, generally worse than Alabama beat up on the same teams. His team last year whupped the Tide.

I cannot deny, though, LSU did not look like they came to play, and perhaps there is some fire beneath the smoke. If so, it had to affect the LSU team. If Miles indeed called the offensive plays, perhaps it would have turned out differently if he had let his offensive coach call the plays.

But then, the Tide had practiced against Jefferson-type offense for a month, having already learned how to defend against Lee. Jefferson didn’t look as sharp the second game, maybe because the Tide coaches and defenses had figured him out, too.

  138. Les Miles .800 winning percentage, LSU .643 winning percentage past 60 years or so…the people ripping Miles on here are clueless. We win a few national championships and you people expect them every year. We were 13-1 this year people…and I know, you all could have done better, you would have put in Lee, blah, blah blah…yeah Lee had two interceptions the last time he was in versus Bama and furthermore sometimes it has taken us till the second half to get going, remember the last couple of games the offense stuttered first half and then got going the second half, Les figured Jefferson gave us the best opportunity…he is the head coach and what he says goes…maybe a better question from ole Hebert would have been why didnt the offensive line give Jefferson more time, anyone think of that?

    • I am NOT a LSU fan BUT one reason the O line did not give him time is because they KNEW he had been out all week or at least one or two nights “drinking & Gambling” until the wee hours…..Have you any shame???

    • Hard to do when the JJ is hitting you in the back with passes – team mate blocking for him and he is throwing passes at the number on his back -happened twice that I know for sure. Not saying we would have come out the winner with Lee or even Mettenburg. Even a Pee Wee coach knows by the end of the 3rd quarter that his game plan is not working if you are playing 3 downs and punt with the regularity that we saw on that historic night. I just can’t figure out how anyone can say a coaching staff is doing their job without throwing everything you have at the opponent in this situation. I expect more from that .800 winning percentage coach – not demanding a win just some effort to make a decent showing.

    • Well said Tiger Lady.

  139. Bottom line Les sucked coaching the game! He showed no emotion whatsoever like he even wanted to play much less win! I hope he’s a goner! Not to mention how disgusted I am on how he treated Lee, he got them where they were n Les is gonna play a thug head that don’t know ur suppose to throw the freaking ball forward not sideways! Go back to the bars n drink Jefferson n take ur lousy coach with you!

  140. The LSU team I watched in the BCS game was certainly not the same team we watched during the season

  141. In due time this will all become public. Maybe it happened exactly the way it was presented, and maybe this was all rubbish. The real question is, how does this affect “our” program moving forward? If there is truly an issue at the top it needs to be addressed. Last year we had a 7-0 coach that was on the hot seat. This year we have a 13-1 coach that’s not on the hot seat, but is under much scrutiny. I think Les Miles is a great coach, but he didn’t do himself any favors in this game regardless of the reason. The sad truth is that if Nick Saban had never left Baton Rouge, LSU would more than likely have been considered one of the biggest football dynasties of all time. The man can flat out coach!

  142. I have never heard so much B.S. garbage from most of you idiots on this site as regards to Jordan Jefferson. If any of you knew the 1st thing about College football you’d know the Coach calls all the plays…Jefferson was 6 for 7 at one point in the game…he executed the dumb ass plays that Miles sent in…He grew frustrated by Miles sending in the same play that wasn’t working over and over again. But to most of you he’s not allowed to get frustrated…’cause you view him as a whiner if he does…where as if it were Lee you’d all say he’s such a competitor that he knew those plays weren’t working so he got frustrated…that’s ok in many of your eyes…but Jefferson’s not allowed that same consideration from you. Miles didn’t put Lee in the game because he would have failed just as miserably as Jefferson was and it would have then become obvious to everyone where the problem was…Miles himself! By leaving Jefferson in the game he knew most of the idiot’s, simpletons & raciest would blame Jefferson and not him…he hung this kid out to dry and every one on this board is proving my point! Truth be told both Jefferson and Lee’s progress have been held back by lack of quality coaching from Miles and his O.C.’s. Miles is not a quality coach…never was…the LSU A.D. and B.O.R.’s love the smooth talking Miles just as they did another former LSU coach…Dale Brown, like Miles…a great personality & recruiter…but couldn’t coach a little league team.

    • There is no excuse in the world for a coach to not play a senior for the last two minutes of a top stage game that you have a snowballs chance in hell of winning. When it would be this quarterbacks last game ever as a Tiger, and he helped get them to where they were. What kind of lame ass excuses do you have for him not doing that. Racist.

  143. Miost of the comments seem to be right on target, I think Miles was out-coached and something is not right, by not putting Lee in, seems like he was not interested in winning or just wanted to prove a point. A good quarterback could have easily changed the tempo of this game, now due to Miles and his coaching, numerous players and commitments are jumping ship, and you can’t blame them, who wants to come to LSU or stay if they have no chance of playing. I guess we will never know the real story, we just have to hang in there and see if Miles still deserves to be our coach.

  144. Waaahhhh Waaaahhhh waaahhhh….all the phony excuses in the world do NOT change
BAMA 21 – LSU 0 zip nada nuttin. Ya’ll need to put on your big girl panties and DEAL with it. Quit dreaming up third and fourth hand rumors and get ready for Spring practice. I’ll just watch the replay again and look at crystal football at the UNIVERSITY of ALABAMA, National Champions… Again………

  145. The Truth says… Alabama kicked LSU’s butt all over the field the first time and missed numerous field goals and a TD opportunity. Fast forward to BCSNCG, Alabama kicked LSU’s butt all over the field, but this time made the field goals and the touchdown opportunity. You can say “the better team” won on a particular day, but everyone saw Alabama having its way with LSU in both games. The Truth has spoken!

  146. We will never know what REALLY happened. I will say this: LSU got their cocky assed we can’t be beat attitude stomped by a great football team! The Alabama Crimson Tide was on a mission and that was to destroy LSU! Yeah, true LSU had a great season in the win-loss column, but the true test comes when you go for the gold. All they found was a lump of coal. I think this humilating loss will be good for the Tigers after all the smoke clears. It’s time to realize that to achieve greatness, one of the things you have to have is character. I didn’t see that in the game.

  147. I think Les was just out coached, not sure if there was controversy or not, but when our sweep around the end didn’t work, Les had no other plan. This game was won on Alabama’s practice field weeks before the game. I also don’t think that the Tigers should have anything to do with Jeremy Hill, a recruit they are trying to get. Leave trouble makers alone, we don’t want any more Jeffersons.

  148. This has to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard. LSU just did it to themselves?? Ok look back at the game in Tuscaloosa. LSU was CLEARLY outmatched by Alabama. Every time LSU was in field goal range, they got the 3 points. So how many field goals did Alabama miss? 4. Ok there is 12 points. Add those to the two field goals they made and you have 18-6 at the end of the game. Then if you really want to get specific, you should really look at that goal line take away. Clearly the receiver’s back hit the ground before the ball was stripped. Meaning he was down on the one yard line. Pretty sure Richardson would’ve punched that in. So in reality the score in Tuscaloosa should’ve been 25-6. Sounds really close to the score of the national championship doesn’t it? Face it Alabama was and is CLEARLY the better team. So..No.. I wont believe in so massive cover up. Thats just stupid.

  149. BamaFanInTigerLand

As a Bama alum and fan, I am thoroughly enjoying sitting back and watching LSU self destruct.I can almost hear the stampede of new recruits changing their minds and running to the Tide. I like Miles, think he’s a funny guy and a good (often lucky) coach. But here’s my problem with him… he seems to me, to be more of a friend to his players than a coach/leader. LSU lacks discipline, which is evident in the amount of personal fouls they receive. The offense played uninspired football on the biggest stage in collegiate sports. To me, that speaks volumes.

  150. les inches = barry switzer do whatever you want, but please don’t get caught……post game speech bwaaaahahahaha

  151. This story sounds plausible. Something obviously happened that caused the team to play with no heart or spirit. Miles has to realize that the team’s opinions have to be considered. If he ignores their advice, it’s no longer a team effort. There was no passion in their play. If this story is true, Miles is completely responsible for the loss.

  152. Really? I mean its a foot ball game. Yea something was fishy but like they said on the pregame show the team that wasn’t beat too have all these plays in there head and pushed too win would not win.this game…. and when I heard on the radio that los vegas increased there betby like 3% for alabama too win I knew the crimson.tide was gonna walk away with a 14th national championship….. and clearly the best team came out on top!

And besides you have too get to the other side of the field too score!!!! And not makin it to the 50 yard line not even once isn’t a touch down…..

  153. Les has the best talent in the country but he doesn’t use it as he should. To have lee win 8 games while JJ was out and just throw him under the bus when he made mistakes against bama in the first game is pitiful.
Les has embarrassed LSU every year he has been there. But like I said LSU has close to the best talent in college football every year so we always win to many games to justify his being fired but IT WILL HAPPEN EVENTUALLY !

  154. Hey quit crying the bottom line is LSU got embarrassed and thier asses handed to them. And if not for a TERRIBLE call in the 1st game they wipped ther ass in that game too.

    • Why don’t you go fuck yourself, alabama bob. I guess you have nothing better to do than to troll an LSU discussion. Fuck Alabama and fuck you too.

  155. The rumor is true. I heard this exact same story from Russel’s mom the evening after the game. I tried to tell the story a number of times and got laughed at for having sour grapes but the story is true. miles lost that game because he demoralized those kids before the game and they had no heart to play. I am not taking away from bama, they were an excellent team last season but the main reason they were able to beat lsu in the final was pure and simple lsu players mentally quit before the game even started. I predict the divide between miles and players will carry over into the upcoming season in a big way. A team just doesn’t move on from that sort of thing if the same moron of a coach is still in charge.
